I think now that were are past this groups 2.5 year mark the future is crystalizing for some, or at minimum more so. The crazy thing is when folks discuss Gute's draft history many point towards getting the likes of Jaire how he did first...or the gamble of Love seemingly making him a prophet...but folks this 2022 class is INSANE return, to the degree it shouldn't even happen. In 2022 we had 11 draft picks. Up until literally days ago, 9 of those 11 were still in house and in Green Bay. Only Samori Toure and Tariq Carpenter are no longer here, but neither are out of the league. Jonathan Ford was the 9th one still here, but was signed off our Practice Squad by the Chicago Bears (where Toure is currently). That means 8 of the 11 are still here. While that is still rare, the CRAZY INSANE thing is arguably if you include Kingsley Enagbare as a starter - ALL NINE ARE STARTERS FOR US. Three of our starting five offensive Lineman are from this class; LT Rasheed Walker (7th Rd), RG Sean Rhyan (3rd Rd) and RT Zach Tom (4th Rd) Two of our best WRs are from this class in Christian Watson (2nd Rd) and Romeo Doubs (4th Rd) Our starting off ball LB in Quay Walker (1st Rd) One of our better when healthy downed defensive lineman in Devonte Wyatt (1st Rd) and finally Kingsley Enagbare (5th Rd) a guy coming into his own with elevated play now that Preston is gone. This group is by leaps and bounds Gute's best top to bottom draft class, and is the type of hitting in a draft you can only DREAM of doing. All great but 6 of these 8 have deals ending after 2024...all 8 do if we don't pick up the 5th year options on Quay or Devonte....that is a TON of contract decisions on the horizon...and likely I bet we see one of these guys get an extension around the draft time frame of the spring honestly (my bet is Zach Tom)...and it wouldn't shock me if they work out a deal similar to what they did with Love with the likes of Quay or Wyatt...split what would be the 5th year option money into two seasons spreading it but keeping them here to see if long term they want to drop serious money on them. Players like it as it gives them exponentially more security and teams' like it as it spreads that big 5th year option money into two. I loved the logic of doing that with Love and would support doing that here truthfully because both of those guys when good are GREAT.
