As he is in control of both the personnel and the coaching, he can identify struggling players who have skill sets to offer that their current teams aren't using (e.g. Rowe, Van Noy, McClellin), buy them cheap, and then redeploy them on his own team (and under his own coaching) to do the things he knows they do well. The dude is a freaking savante. No one is better a recognizing a player's strengths and cultivating a scheme to take advantage of those strengths while hiding weaknesses. We can all lament that our team doesn't have a guy in charge who is that good, but if you're only going to be happy with a guy who is probably the best ever, then you're not going to be happy.</blockquote>
