Message: <blockquote data-quote="sschind" data-source="post: 780640" data-attributes="member: 10247">The way I choose to look at it is they are not forfeiting a pick in the 2019 draft they are just using it a year early.   The Giants had an obvious interest in the player they chose and had he been available in 2018 they may have used a 3rd round pick on him and no one would have questioned it.   If you can get a 3rd round player (or maybe even higher) for a third round pick doesn't it make sense to get him a year earlier than you could if you had to wait until next years draft.Obviously the issues are a concern but I honestly don't see the difference between taking a player in the 2018 draft or giving up a pick in the 2019 draft to get him.  If you want him you have to give up a pick to get him (assuming someone else would have and you couldn't go the FA route)</blockquote>
