In your previous post you mentioned that we have different grading systems. 2nd, Jag. When you said he was a Jag and hoped he would become a Stud; I thought you meant more or less the opposite of a stud. If you are saying Jag means "just another guy," it just doesn't hang real well with stud in the same sentence. But if that is what you meant, that seems more reasonable to me. But I don't think it's reasonable to say that is all he will ever be. I go by what I watch and I also have higher "hopes" for some because I also like to pick out a possible good but raw player. Not objective, but I try and keep it in mind that I am biased. I liked Shepherd because I think there is a place for a small, really quick guy with good hands. And so I admit I want him to do well. His punt returning was awful, but if you re-watch the sf playoff game you will see that Ervin was not good. And I just don't think there is a big body of punt return work to call him trash. But more importantly, how is he as a pass catcher. Again, not a real lot to go by and I don't think his slip and miss was something to make a quick and final opinion about him. So this past game he came up with a very nice catch for 15 or so yards. He caught a pass near the endzone in fairly tight coverage and got his legs tangled and came up a couple inches short. Again, reason to call him a dud? I don't think so. I think he has potential and I like his quickness. I would not give up on him as a punt returner either. and then there was one long incompletion that did not look good from the start. Don't know why Rodgers did not look for someone else. Davis, somewhat similar, I never really liked. Don't exactly know why. But I think Shephard is quicker than he was. So he is very young and I, at least, am happy to see LaFleur give him a chance. I give him a decent grade for last game. I wish he had more targets. But not deep ones. I don't think he is built for that right now. Do I trust him. Yes. But in the limited role for a quick, short receiver. Look how good that guy is doing in Buffalo.
