[QUOTE="tromadz, post: 45139, member: 306"] Seeing the Favre spot on ESPN a couple times now, and have heard multiple opinions on the matter.. one take on the subject was that when a player says "I dont want the ball in the final two minutes" (or whatever he said, it was close to that) that the team might not even want you back. its (as weve all talked about) as if hes unofficially retired there. Now of course he can change his mind and say "I want the ball in the final minutes and lead the team down the field" but as of right now, this is not the favre(or any player) we want on the team. We love the favre cuz he can make magic, he can throw through 3 defenders, he can lead a final charge down the field for a victory, but now he doesnt know if he can do that? He doesnt want to do that? That is not the favre we all know and love. And im not bashing the man, hes done great things, and is a great man, but the main thing we love(at least me) is Favre the competitor. the man who will butt heads with a DT, who will throw a block on a reverse, who will put the game in his hands cuz sherman has given up on the run already. Now he doesnt know if he can do that. That is a pretty useless football player there. Thats like an RB not wanting\knowing if he can hit the hole. A CB not knowing or wanting to follow a WR(like carroll) or a kicker not knowing if can or wants to kick a field goal. I, like most of you, feel a 50% favre is better than 100% of other QBs in the league, but we were all thinking it was 50% and the will to win, the emotional drive to lead the team(as well as gunsling, etc), and the DESIRE to want the ball, THE DESIRE TO PLAY THE GAME. When Favre says "I dont want the ball in the final two minutes" its pretty much saying "I dont want to play football" because the final drive, a TD wins the game situation IS football. THAT is the situation a lot of QBs get up in the morning, and Favre doesnt want the ball? I think if thats the way he feels about it(and he has the right to feel that way, hes earned it) then he should have his press conference, have a favre-love fest at Lambeau, and then buy a new riding mower for his home, and go do the things he wants to do, because playing football doesnt seem like its one of them anymore.
