We were waaaay too late loading the Box. The game plan from play #1 should have been to make Huntley beat us past 20 yards. Single High on play #1. In addition, Baltimore took notes. Both the Steelers, Carolina and Bears used Jumbo packages and had some good success. The Ravens mirrored that on play #1 and when I saw it I immediately knew their global game plan was Run Heavy. We didn’t react until Baltimore was knocking on their 1st TD and you can’t let a 11 play drive like that happen. Early in we had 3 guys on the DL and massive Gaps. Once momentum gets rolling it’s hard to stop. Our big guys are not seasoned enough to handle 50+ Runs. They were gassed by the middle of possession #2. The only antidote was to activate an extra DT and literally line up 4 DT and 4 LB behind them. You don’t need to play Dime in this type game. This should’ve been loaded boxes and this guys wouldn’t need rotation on 6-7 play drives. I I get wanting to keep players fresh. But did light boxes keep our players fresh on Defense? Not in Jumbo packages. 1 less Safety and 1 more DT. By the time Haf realized this we were 10 minutes to 1 minute and 23 running plays into the nightmare. Also Oliver should’ve been activated and I would’ve had him lining up and shooting downhill. Unless he was crippled he’s a 240lb+ LB with blazing downhill speed and a high echelon pop. Unless he’s crippled he’s on that field. This wasn’t about studying their game plan it was about pound for pound and forcing them to go vertical.
