To further illustrate my point I just did a bunch of research on Pro Football Reference. I believe that this will prove that 6th and 7th round picks are more than just "camp bodies" or "destined for the practice squad" in Green Bay. I don't view them that way and seemingly neither does the front office/scouting staff. In rounds 6 and 7 from 2005-2016 the Packers have had 36 picks and 31 have played at least a game in the NFL, which comes in at 86%. A number which is better than the league as a whole. In that same timespan there have been 999 guys drafted in the 6th and 7th, 773 have played at least one game or 77%. Maybe you need more convincing than a draft pick playing in a solitary NFL game. I was hoping you thought that! 12 of the Packers 36 picks (33%) have played 61 or more games in their career. League-wide 165 of the 999 (16%) have accomplished that. Now playing in 61 games is nearly four full NFL seasons, something I used as an arbitrary standard of comparison. The Packers also lead the league in 6th and 7th round picks during the TT era who have played at least 61 games. The Packers have 12 (as stated), the 49ers have 11, the Cowboys and Panthers have 10, and the Dolphins have 8. If you are wondering who those guys are... 1. Mason Crosby-160 2. Clark Harris-124 3. C.J. Wilson-84 4. Brad Jones-83 5. Tyrone Culver-80 6. Dave Tollefson-78 7. James Starks-76 8. Desmond Bishop-75 9. Jarius Wynn-69 10. Lawrence Guy-67 11. Korey Hall-61 12. Johnny Jolly-61 That's why I believe that in Green Bay whatever round you are picked in (1-7) you can be a steal or a major reach. Amichia and Mays were not on my board of 300 players while other people that I thought would be steals were. Doesn't mean I'm right, but if you are gonna push me for my reasoning and some stats, well there ya go!
