That, in turn,  gives another player valuable experience and occasionally they even beat the presumed starter out of a job. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, when the injured player heals up you got 2 viable alternatives or at the very least know you suck and then that forces a FA pickup or a trade deal. It’s can actually be a silver lining in the long term.That said, we never want players getting injured, but good teams can go out and continue to win ball games with a slight deficiency, while having a better evaluation of their bench.  That way you don’t have a backup player getting his first career start in a high caliber playoff game after the starter is injured late in a given season.</blockquote>
