Like the prospect but not the pick. Not a true off ball, not a big edge…juice for sub packages as he is electric athlete.

When you speculate as often as I do, you're bound to be right sometimes.

That said, I did wonder if they just wanted a DPR in this draft. They have the big boys already.

Makes me think if he plays inside, he will be utilized in blitz packages. He has an insane Pass Rush win rate.

Was looking at his yearly accolades, as a freshman on 2021, he had 11.5 sacks, plus he seems to be a FF machine, had 4 in 2023.

Oliver is set up to have a VERY hard road to a roster spot…edge is chalked full of Gary, LVN, Enagbare, Cox and Sorrell….if Oliver is looked at for off ball…you have Quay, Cooper, McDuffie, Welch, Simmons and Hopper and my UDFA crush Dumas Johnson….

My immediate thought was he is a LB for us. But afterwards it sounds like we want a different option type at DE
Oliver becomes the first 2025 Packer draft pick to sign a contract.

Sounds like a 4 year $4.6M deal for the 5th round pick.

Great new! Why wait? Hope he got a decent signing bonus and he is wise with his money.

Looks like the signing bonus is higher, the higher the selection. Makes sense. The contract is four years at approximately.$4 mil, and follows the guidelines in place (I think those are NFL guidelines, or more likely form the CBA). I don't know what the signing bonus is, but they get paid something for inking a deal and trying to make the team (even if they ultimately don't).

Gluten used this draft to set up a LOT of competition at WR, Edge - and to a lesser degree at OL and CB. Regardless, he should come out of TC and PS with a decent group of starters and plenty of depth, maybe with the exception of depth at CB - depends on if they retain JA.

I likes the way he approached the draft, taking the BPA given the needs. That's why he took three offensive players with the first three picks.

We rarely draft Offense 1-2-3. I think I went back and looked and it’s like 5 other times in the SB era.

What I liked is we then turned to Defense and Doubled our chances in Day3. Going 4 players across 2 position groups. Not to mention some pretty strong UDFA signings that easily could’ve been drafted by someone.

That CB from Florida Atlantic looks stout. I’d stash him. Like 80%+ pass D grade and 40% completion rate on a regular basis good. 6’.3” 210lb and arms like a LB but speed of a faster CB and excels on the Perimeter like a fish to water. He’d be great for teams he’s uber physical. He’s played nearly every position group he’s just an all-around stud. Khazir “buggs” Brown be watching him this Preseason. A poster I read said this dude “looks like he ate a CB for breakfast” lol
He runs a 4.42 and Benched 245 (not 225) X 24reps

Guys I just wanted to show you how dynamic Collin is coming out of College. While he’s more of that crossover player between a Pass Rusher and Stack, I’m just going to display his production. I’m using Isaiah McDuffie to compare him with a productive NFL LB. Not to diminish him, but because he’s a pretty solid player. Oliver switched to LB later so just keeping that in mind when looking at college production.

Isaiah McDuffie (2017-2020)

Collin Oliver (2021-2024)

So just a few things you could see as you look at production. While in Isaiah’s Defense, these 2 players did play different roles across 2 seasons, Collin proved exceptionally disruptive wherever he lines up. Very involved and very early in the play.

Colin played 2 games in 2024 before suffering a season ending foot injury. 2-0 Record. His overall record while on the field? 31-11 W-L.
He’s a force when put on a Winning team.

Imo. Had he played the entirety of 2024, he would’ve been selected, at minimum, 1 RD earlier. His Foot injury and subsequent absence in 2024 (in combination with a thick class of a good Edge class + a conversion to LB) 100% affected his draft stock. He’s a 4th Round talent had he just paced his 2021-2023 resume.
2021 2nd Team ALL-Big 12 (Frosh)
2022 2nd Team ALL-Big 12
2023 2nd Team ALL-Big 12

Now I was a proponent of Smael Mondon Jr earlier Day3. He similarly had some medical ?? After suffering several foot injuries. However I’ll admit I didn’t do research on Collin Oliver and I’ve noticed he was actually slightly more consistent across the board but with Similar athletic profiles.

“Oliver ended his OK state career as the program’s leader in quarterback hurries, fourth in tackles for loss, seventh in tackles for loss yardage and fifth in sacks”.
* He did that in his Freshman,Sophomore, Junior seasons! Where would he have ranked with 4 years of production?

Collin will sport Packers #45
