I think there are quite a few dominant "old" players, that get signed every year around the league ,and make an impact. Most the time though, the team runs them hard like the stud has always been run... But theres usually a reason these studs were let go by their original teams. Because they aren't effective anymore... But that's only because they aren't played right... Im speaking mainly about big Dlinemen. These big boys can play all the time when 23, 24 years old. They hit 33, 34 and the body tends to break down. they don't go 100% anymore, and they don't produce by seasons end... You know this ahead of time, why wouldn't you keep a big time veteran buried on the depth chart, and use him only during critical plays every week. Then release the beast come playoff time... pretty much exactly what they did with peppers. Which took some real will, when Peppers is banking 10 mil during his snap count....... Typically I would bring this offer to a guy like peppers who is considering retirement because the grind of training camp and 20 games before playoffs start, is no fun anymore... But if they get a free pass on that stuff, and take a pay cut to extend their career... I mean, did you see that huge smile on Peppers face yesterday?! After the sack, strutting like the stud he has always been. LOVING IT! Like I bet he would retire at the end of this year if we had run him hard and he was hurting now. But now instead we could offer a couple year deal for say 5 mil a year instead of 10. And he gets to skip the crap and only play the fun stuff the next two years (with this great team)........ I bet he would take that deal...
