i just hate this.

1. it sucks for A-rod. Its his opening game and the loudest cheer he will hear all day, will be for the QB he is replacing. Thats not good for the ol confidence level.

2. It sucks for Brett. Let it simmer for awhile. dont just go get it out of the way. I mean how many all star players in any sport have had their jersey retired the day after they quit playing ya know. you wait a little bit, let the new season develop and then you retire... hell i would even wait a year. let us miss brett before you retire his jersey.

just seems so unnecessarily rushed

but...what do i know.

I agree completely. I think this is horrible for Aaron Rodgers, but I understand that the NFL probably forced their hand a little bit. They want the high television ratings, and this will do it.

I think it is putting undue pressure on Aaron in his first ever start. (Which is good for me and my Vikings!)

Welcome to the site. :welcome:

One of your fellow Vikings fans (who's one of our favorite people on this board) likes to use stupid things I say as his sigs. Keep in mind, any prediction you make can be used as a sig for us later. ;)

Seems to me that they are rushing the retirement of Favre's jersey to keep him from even thinking about coming back!! Not very classy. When I went to the NFCCG the fans behind me cursed and screamed at Brett saying he was stupid. They also pulled my daughter down by the coat and continued to curse. I know this is football but I've been to other venues and they don't allow that!! Can't blame Brett for leaving, the team didn't want him anymore and the many of the fans didn't believe in him anymore!! I love him and won't watch his replacement if you want to try to call him that! I love Brett Favre and I think he left because he didn't feel loved in Green Bay anymore. May the bashing of me begin but that's how I feel.

No one should bash you at all..

You are aware that Brett and Deanna had input on this game, and that they are okay with it being the 1st game.

It isn't Rodgers fault he was drafted to take the place of a hero/legend/hof

So why punish him?

Also, it would be not very classy to retire and then unretire.

But like longtime said, Brett OK'd it.

Yikes, but I disagree with your one premise. I root for the Packers. The fact that Favre was their Quarterback was in fact a Bonus. If he had been a Cowboy QB I'd have hated him worse than I hated Troy Aikman. I do think they are rushing it but hey they never listen to us.

He physically pulled your daughter down. You must have the patience of an absolute saint, because if someone ever lays hands on my daughter at a football game, I guarantee that security will be escorting one of out.

Something like that wouldn't surprise me in Philly or NY, but not in Green Bay. Definitely not in Minnesota either.

Agreed wholeheartedly.. there is no place for that kind of garbage.. one of the reasons, my kids haven't went to a game yet in any venue.. some folk don't seem to understand where the line of fan and moron lies. IMO.

You have to realize I live in a state where there are no pro football teams. The Bengals are close but it's not the same. I have been a Brett Favre fan for his 15 years! I can't claim loyalty to a team so much as a player.

I didn't see it happen. My daughter and husband did. Also, my friend with us. I couldn't have restrained myself, but they did somehow. They threatened them and trust me my husband and friend are big enough to have taken care of the situation. After that they didn't bother her again. But had I seen it I would have punched him between the eyes!!!

Thanks for the support on this. It's great to know that the level of dignity I always imagined of the greatest franchise in football is still there. I have a great deal of respect for the people there, but not the fans who basically bullied everyone including Favre.

Many of the fans at the game (especially the older ones that are Montana Bob's age) sit for most of the game. So when someone stands up in front of them and no one is in front of them, the sitter get upset. They will ask you to sit down and then will tug at you. I had it happen to me once when a lady pulled on my camera strap while I was standing to take a picture. I wasn't happy but then neither was she.

I understand that some want to sit, but most of the game everyone in front of us stood the whole game. We are short people. My daughter and I are 5'2. We can't see hardly when everyone sits. Eventually some guys down front noticed we were the only section not standing and this was the most important game of the season!! Plus this was my first and probably only visit to Lambeau as it was a very far drive from Ky.
I imagined the field would be electric but it felt dead. I guess the horrible cold had something to do with that.

IMHO, standing up is one of the things that you should expect at a football game, especially when it is the NFC Championship game. I do try and be considerate as possible of the people behind me, especially in the event of an older fan or a younger one, but in 4brett3eva's story, it sounds like the people behind weren't being very considerate either. And there is absolutely no reason to pull someone down by their coat. That is crossing the line.

I thought that with the last renovation to Lambeau the sight lines were supposed to improved... are the bleachers still hard to see from?

You know that you have a standing invite to the PP.O tailgate Pack93z. Bring the kids along. The dome is relatively family friendly, and my son has been coming with me to games and tailgating since he was 1 1/2 (in fact, his first game was a Minnesota-Green Bay game in 2005). There will always be some stupid people, but they tend to be limited to the cheap nosebleed seats. And even then there are enough decent people around to negate any problems.

Yeah Ky. Nothing here at all!! We were lucky enough to score 7 rows from the field!! Cost a pretty penny!! Still paying for it! So we wanted to take advantage of seeing it all!! The benches were extremely crowded especially with all the gear to stay warm and it was still hard to see. We actually had to scrape ice off the seats to sit down!! My daughter had to go in right before the game asw frost bite was setting in. My husband rubbed her feet and she was okay with the help of toe warmers the rest of the game. Thanks for the invite! I didn't know who was able to go.
