[QUOTE="OldSchool101, post: 903520, member: 10086"] I think that’s exactly the philosophy that gets many fans aggravated. We’ve spent how much draft capital on Defense and we’re currently ranked middle of the league? I would argue that if we hit gold there late day 1 to early day 2 at a WR that WE are confident he is underrated at that selection. Go WR! This Offense would sustain its productivity and after the draft debacle last year. There ain’t enough Scotch in his medicine cabinet to erase another draft debacle do-over move like that (I gotcha back Aaron! ;)) There’s 2 factors off the top of my head that concern me. 1. Contingency to a serious injury to Davante. 2. A default expectation that all our competition will remain stagnant on Defense. Not even to mention losing J.Williams who was a reception producer behind Jones. Jamaal rushed for shy of 2000 yards and caught shy of 1000 yards. 8 of his 18 TD’s were receiving. That reception productivity isn’t guaranteed to come from Dillon (although I like what I’ve seen this far he has soft hands.) immediately. GB is one of a very few teams who have not selected a day 1 or day 2 WR for years now. Davante came in 2014 for heavens sakes. also Our track record on Defensive day 1-2 selections doesn’t exactly instill lots of confidence that we will get immediate production anymore than at WR. With rare exception (Kenny/Jaire) Our earlier D production has come from FA outside sources. I think we should stick to the formula of best available (obviously not at QB etc..) and if it’s WR or OG or CB for that matter or whatever so be it. This fascination with having to select at D has lost its luster. What has our return on investment in all these early D selections resulted in? We’ve had what? 3-4 times since 2008 breaking a top 10 scoring D in 13 seasons. That’s Embarrassing considering our invested capital. I will argue that Aaron Rodgers has had at or near the bottom of the league of draft or FA resources at WR. What’s the issue with avoiding WR? Aaron is possibly the best QB to ever set field and he has been clearly and unequivocally cheated of resources. Putting Jordan Love aside... since #12 started, we have spent more than a 2:1 ratio of 1st and 2nd day selections on Defense (using calculator soup to point value). Then the 1 time we select a day 1 selection we go QB and make it Aaron’s competition? Are you kidding me? What a cluster $&:- we are treating our HOF QB like that. I might be Packer fan first, but I’m not going to sit around pretending I’m happy because Rodgers elevated the play of countless mediocrity at WR and then gets rewarded with the absolute shaft last season. Thank you for letting me ramble and diffuse my bottled up $&@t it’s been a long rollercoaster year and I apologize for any anything that wasn’t intended to be personal.
