BINGO! Kitten, that is my favorite post from you, ever. People think there's gotta be just one smoking gun to explain everything. The reality is, in football at this level, it's like a 12-cylinder high performance sports car: one issue here or there will ultimately affect the whole thing. You can have 1, 2, 4, 5 little things go wrong, and then the car will suck. Losing Cullen Jenkins was problem #1, there's no denying that. A pass rush can make a bad set of DBs look average. They can make an average set of DBs look good. And they can make good DBs look great. A s****y pass rush will make a good set of DBs look bad. And a s****y pass rush will make an average set of DBs look historically bad. It's that simple really. Add in the fact that the set of DBs has been anchored by Nick Collins for 6 years, and the fact that Collins IS great, which a lot of people didn't have a clue about. We saw the result time & time again. I remember polling you guys towards the end of last season somewhere here, and it was just an offense vs defense thing. More than 50% of us sided with the defense as far as who we had more confidence in. That seems like decades ago. But it was just Jenkins & Collins ago. Bad bad luck on Collins. Bad gamble on Jenkins/Neal. Nobody wins em all.
