You know what, Rodgers MIGHT have taken less if it meant they could afford Mack. I'm not going to sit here and pretend to know what he would have done if asked. However, as I said before I don't think it was the money that kept Mack from coming here. It was the picks. Yes the Raiders gave a 2nd rounder back but they got a 4th( I think) Not that a 4th is huge but it is something. The even bigger picture though is why in the world would the Raiders even consider the Packers 2 first rounders AND giving back a second when it is fairly certain the Bears will be picking higher than the Packers. If you look at the deal that went down and think the Packers could have gotten the same you are crazy. It likely would have taken more than the Bears gave up for the Packers to have gotten Mack and they probably wouldn't have gotten a 2nd rounder back, so stop saying the Packers could have gotten Mack for what the Bears gave up. It just wouldn't happen. So if Gute went to AR and said "would you take less if we signed Kahlil Mack" The agreement would have had to be ... lets call it X - Mack Money ... unless we don't get Mack then its X. and even that puts Gute is in a precarious position. To get Mack he has to give up multiple first rounders and then some If he can't come to an agreement with the Raiders he is facing a situation where his HOF QB just gave up millions of dollars to get Mack and he (Gute) failed to do that. You don't think that would **** Rodgers off? About the only way they could have pulled it off is if they had two acceptable agreements in place with Rodgers beforehand and not announced it until after the Mack situation was settled. If they got Mack Rodgers signs the deal for less, if not he signs the deal for more.
