I was on record 4 years ago (after 4th and 26) saying that I didn't think Favre could get to another SB. I'm not saying that I blamed him for that loss, either, but he certainly was a factor as was he in the loss to the Giants with plenty of opportunities to put the game away and with the weapons to do it. There's been enough written about Thompson neglecting to "beg" Favre into staying that there probably is something to it. Maybe in Thompson's view, Rodgers could have beaten the Giants and then, perhaps, the Patriots with some experience under his belt. Favre didn't exactly light up the last 7 games of the season going 4-3 and throwing 9 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. There is no perfect solution to this situation if it is indeed true that Favre wants to play and I think he does, albeit not necessarily for the Packers as it has been reported. I'm one Packer fan that would forgive the Packers for getting some value from Favre and trading him to another team. There are too many comments that Favre has made over the last several years that still may indicate that, while he still has the drive to win, he may not have the mental stamina. In other words, with the game on the line, he may not want the ball.
