Rodgers won the MVP in 2011 and 2014. Aaron has 39 and 33 net passing TDs respectively. Mahomes has 43 in 2018 (and he’s not done!) in comparison. Bree’s has 27. Aaron lost miserably in the Divisional to the Giants (2011 season) and we played in the NFC Championship game during the 2014 post season. In the NFC Championship game he got smothered and that’s a fact. AR went 1TD 2INT for 178 yards passing with 55% completions. That’s a miserable game for any QB. The award has nothing directly to do with playoff standings or he would’ve never achieved either one. It’s based mainly on regular season production. Drew Brees is a fine QB. One of my favorites all time. This isn’t an “all time” award. This is 2018 and that’s it. Mahomes is obliterating the TD stats as a novice NFL caliber QB, unseen since Peyton Manning in his prime. 50 all purpose TDS? The season isn’t even over yet. Drew Bree’s is has 36 all purpose TDs. If we base an award on QB wins, it’s a team award because the Defense plays a vital role in that outcome. This isn’t a Defensive debate we’re talking QBs here. Unless you pick a Defensive player? it’s purely opinion. Opinions don’t win awards.. TDs and accrued yardage are 2 of the 3 most important aspects of determining the value at the QB position which is our debate specifically. The players with the most TDs have the greatest impact because that is the entire goal of the game (no pun) So that being said, yes, we absolutely and unequivocally have to look at individual performance stats. Bree’s isn’t even close other than TD/INT ratio. If a QB had 11 total TDs and zero INTs does that ratio make him a MVP? Absolutely not it’s a ways down the list of value. Blindly, I’ll take 48 TDs and 10 INT over 32 TDs and 5 INTs anytime any season. The net result is 38>27. to back it up? Bree’s is near 800 yards behind Mahomes. I appreciate and value your opinion but Mahomes blew away even Drew Bree’s in 2018. There’s a new Sherriff in town and James Arness himself would agree.
