It feels to me like either:1. The team was pursuing other options (Harbaugh, trade, etc) but couldn't get a deal done, didn't get good enough offers, etc. and after dragging on for a while started to get cold feet and more or less chose to just meet Matt's demands at that point2. The team pretty much always intended to extend with Matt, didn't really have any major issues in negotiations, but decided to wait a few days before letting the news get out to try and save face a bitI dunno, just smells fishy..</blockquote>
