I held out hope for Sander, but looks like it wasn't meant to be. I am SHOCKED that he had such bad numbers, I'd expect him to improve and be more relaxed after having a season under his belt where he actually got to play. Instead he put up numbers like this... :( Ryan is too inconcistent for my taste. He had three 50 yarders, one 30 yarder that was shanked, but if you take into account these outliers, you don't get that big of an average, somewhere around 40 yards of punt with not enough hang time. That is an issue, as our ST need time to get down the field. I take it from the numbers that they punted into a harsh breeze, but that is no excuse. I think Ryan has already made this his job to loose, but I get an uneasy feeling with Ryan's action, it takes him a tad too long to get the ball to the foot. And I just have a nervous feeling about his low hang times. After last couple of seasons, I am a little worried about our P position, and this doesn't help my worries. But I hope the coaching staff can work with Ryan to get his stuff straight and ready to go for NFL level competition. On another related note, does anyone else think it might be a good idea to get the guy who came in last season to help Sander with his punting? He seemed to help Sander last year, so why not try it with Ryan? I was sort of hoping they would hire the guy as a P/K specialist, his resume is quite good! But I wonder if the Packers coaching staff has given any thought to bringing that guy back for at least one more year?...
