Glad to see the Packers have quietly begun discussions with Aaron Kampman's agent. All he does is get better and hustle his *** off each play, each week, all season long. Good to see TT recognize this guy.

Classic example of a "football player". These scouts sometimes look too hard at the 40 time, or shuttle run or verticle leap numbers, rather than focusing on production and whether the guy can play football.

Could not have been stated more clearly, DePack. Notice how many "football players" TT Took in his first draft.

Murphy was 4 years of production and leadership for A&M.

All Collins did was produce in college and, lookee here, it carries over to the pros.

Poppinga was all business on special teams and defense prior to injury.

Ever time M Squared (Mike Montgomery) gets on the field, he gets all over people...usually the QB and RB....often for loss.

Whitticker looks to have rounded the corner and is getting it done for us....look for a great offseason to make this kid into a very solid contributor next year.

Rodgers, Underwood, Coston and Hawkins will develop over time.

And you cannot omit the FA acquisition of one Samkon Gado, who looks more and more like a real gem every week.

All in all, a very nice first draft....I eagerly await the second. TT will erase any hint of softness this team had, in terms of personnel, quickly.

Right on it Digs,, we need FOOTBALL PLAYERS not great atlethes that MAY become regular football players someday or may not.. Id rather have a guy like Kampman who bust his butt on every down and gets a little bit better every game than having a prima dona who asks for the big buck before showing what he can do.

Sure TT is changing this team from a soft team into a football player oriented structure that will ensure us a much better team in the near future !!

I hope you are right digs. Gado wasn't exactly Mr. Production in college but if he holds onto the ball he can be a real find.

most of you know i have a hardon for kampman. He is nothing but heart and the hustle. And what has he done? Flourished in the bates system this year(last year wasnt bad either). I am glad they are talking contract. I think kamp could be a solid DE for 2-4 years on that side.

What we need to do is get rid of KGB and get another kampman like player (a player who can play pass AND run solidly..not godly..but solid) on the other DE spot.

But look at guys who are doing good this year. Kampman,Jenkins,Robert Thomas, paris lenon, and Nick Collins.

None of them are super talented, but they play their butts off, hustle, use their brains, and do what coach says. (robert thomas and lenon are mentioned because they are doing better than we expected, at least me)

True but he did not get alot of Playing time in college but perhaps that had more to do with the Politics of 1-aa schools than actual ability

Tromadz...I agree about KGB...liability on the run, and is average at best as a pass rusher. Everyone said, just get him someone on the other side of the line...well Kampan is outperforming him this year.

KGB needs a consistent push up the middle to be effective but that's not the Bates system. He's unfortunately just a speed rusher in this system. What I'd like to see is a guy with Kamp's heart and Hunt's body at either the end or the tackle position. That guy would be unstoppable.

I dont know if its Bates' coaching or what...but KGB now specializes at running himself out of plays...he is not an every down player, i'd rather he's just an edge guy on passing situations--or just get rid of him, because he makes too much money to be a 'specialist'

I wouldn't mind seeing montgomery/kampman starting at the ends for the final games

Kamp deserves an extension end of story. He and Grady have been the best linemen this season.

Although Grady has played well this season, I don't think he's been consistent enough. IMO I think Cole and Kampman have been the best players on the DL followed by Jenkins and Grady.

These guys are putting out great effort this year and it's made a real difference for this defense. Cutting no-effort Hunt was the best thing that could have happened to the defense.
