When Bob Harlan was named president and CEO of the Green Bay Packers on June 5, 1989, the franchise was nearing the end of a futile decade. The Packers had not been to the playoffs in a non-strike season since 1972. Their glory days were ancient history. Harlan's steady hand on the organization oversaw a renovation of Lambeau Field and a successful financial picture.
