[QUOTE="Favre>Rodgers259, post: 901025, member: 10866"] Man that article said A LOT. I had to take a break from the forum to compose myself. I don't like Barry, don't want him, but we're stuck with him. If they wanted a LB coach to make these guys better, my top guy Jerod Mayo was available. But maybe like some of you surmise, it's all about the Phillips/Fangio/Staley system that LaFleur wants. Fair enough. But Evero came from that same system, why not try him? I know Barry was with Derrick Brooks in Tampa, but Derrick Brooks is Derrick Brooks, to say that Barry "made" him is laughable. I'll say the same about Ryan Kerrigan in Washington, who was already a household name before Barry got there. During his time at USC, he produced one draft selection in Malcolm Smith, who was the 242nd Overall Pick in the 2011 Draft, but you could almost completely credit that more to Pete Carroll, who coached Smith from 07-09 at USC. Looking particularly at his stint in Washington, he took a "C-" defense and maybe made it a "C" after additions through the Draft and Free Agency, how that justifies him deserving another shot, I fail to understand. I get that Barry has had time under some great DCs, I also get that players and coaches alike call him "energetic" and "passionate", but none of that is a guarantee for success. At the end of the day, Barry has to be able to coach and call the defense. He has to be able to elevate the level of play of these guys on the field. I have yet to hear a single credit to Barry in that light. He seems to me to be just a "team guy", a guy you might like to be around, a guy who makes you feel good....but that's about it. Being a good guy/friend doesn't mean a thing about being successful on the field. Again, we're stuck with him. So all I can do is be hopeful that LaFleur knows what he's doing and not just hiring somebody because he's been coaching a while and he's his friend. Barry's hiring and subsequent performance will let me know if LaFleur has truly matured into being a HC or just being a really good OC. The Packers 2020 DRankings: Yds - 9th Pass - 7th Run - 13th Pts - 15th Sacks - 10th Ints - 18th The minimum Barry has to do is hold serve, but if those rankings drop, I'm calling for his job and for MLF to be reigned in by Murphy on staff hires.
