I think the Bears should pull the trigger on this one. Get Parsons in the fold and watch them return to the same problems they had under previous regimes. Put all their money into individual players and watch several positions deteriorate because of it. I think that for both the Bears and Packers, Parsons is a cap trap. I'd love to see Parsons with the Bears. People may think that the one player addition is going to win championships but it's not. Parsons will not be a "magnet" to draw seasoned vets who are willing to take less just to play with him. Those days are in the rear-view mirror. The Reggie White type signings like the Packers had thanks to Wolf and Holmgren are a thing of the past. Now, it's all about the ring, as long as it includes millions of dollars more than anyone else offers but never sacrifice of money for the good of the team. The last major shift, because of essentially one man, that I can recall is 2018 when the Bears signed Khalil Mack and went from 5-11 in 2017 to 12-4 in 2018. But they still were dumped in the wild card round by Philadelphia because the Bears offense was actually kind of pathetic at times, relying on Mack and the defense to get them in scoring position more often than their offense could. The problem was that it was a one-hit-wonder season because in 2019 & 2020 they ended up 8-8 and then spiraled down into losing seasons after that. Parsons would create that same scenario, and the Bears brain trust would hopefully be smarter than that bunch. They had to shed talent by letting people go via free agency and not renewing contracts because the Mack deal had tied them in knots. They gave up two 1st round picks, a 3rd, and a 6th and signed him to what was the biggest contract out there at the time for 6-years and over $140 million. They ended up trading him in 4-years, pretty much admitting that contract was a big mistake because they lost so much talent across the board. So, in synopsis, as a Packer fan, I'd prefer the Bears sign him over the Packers. I don't want a cap strapping contract on the Packers.
