I think it's easier to train new guys a new scheme then get older guys to buy into a new scheme.  Remember grandpa still doesn't use the remote!! He'd rather walk up to the tv an change the channel because he has CONFIDENCE that it will be changed where as with a remote he doesn't feel the same confidence.
