As strange as it may sound I was glad to read Adams has been playing hurt – at least it somewhat explains his poor performance and provides some hope he’ll get better. “Somewhat” because I don’t think a bad ankle affects one’s ability to catch the ball. Same for Cobb – no doubt his shoulder is still hurting and it probably will until the end of the season. If he fails blocking because of it I’d give him a pass, but when the ball hits both of his palms and he drops it, I don’t think that’s the shoulder’s fault. And I think it’s worth remembering for some who continue to post, ‘with Aaron Rodgers as QB…’, that we have not been watching the MVP Rodgers for most of this season. Take away the plays in which the OL didn’t give him time, and the plays in which the receivers didn’t get open or did and then dropped a catchable ball. What remains is plays in which Rodgers is jumpy in the pocket even if he’s well protected, or plays where he sails the ball over receivers’ heads or throws it 10 yards in front of them. And there have been plays where he’s had more than 6 seconds to throw the ball and he takes a drive-ending sack instead of throwing the ball away. It’s one thing for him to do that when the offense is clicking, during this stretch it is not. Some disagree but I think Thompson made a mistake not acquiring TE Davis on a ‘half season’ rental for a 5th or 6th rounder (they’ll receive better picks as compensation for losing T. Williams and House). The coaching staff hasn’t done enough to correct the situation in scheme and personnel. At some point during the last game as he was catching two of 11 targets for 14 yards it had be apparent to the staff that Adams wasn’t getting it done. While Janis may not run perfect routes, what would have been lost with him replacing Adams at some point? To top it off they get called for a pick on a play Jones clearly didn’t ‘pick’ the defender. That’s why I’ve posted more than once what is going on is a perfect offensive **** storm.
