That $ amount also happens to be tied to a one year contract (assuming no offers at the 2nd. round tender), affording a low risk opportunity to see how he progresses in 2013. At the low tender, you might have to match a multiyear deal from a team looking for a relatively cheap center. I'm not suggesting the guy will be some Pro Bowl candidate at any point down the road. Then again, we're talking about $2.0 mil for one year under the 2nd. round tender.  That's not even decent starter money.</blockquote>
