I don't knwo the circumstances of his torn bicep injury. Saying that, I've heard of torn biceps happening because of the strength of the player and it's just a freak occurrence. They create so much power that the muscle tears. I Forgot who it was that completely severed his bicep in a game but he was a monster. I also don't think there is a risk of recurring injury, but maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong. I was always under the impression that a well repaired torn muscle has less chance of tearing at that spot than anywhere else.

Gilbert Brown comes to mind

The bicep injury should not be a big concern regarding reinjury. I am not sure all of you know exactly what this type of injury does but it essentially means detaching the upper part of the bicep muscle which then cause the muscle to retract downward in a piled up mess.

In otherwords it's an UGLY injury and it hurts like hell but is not likely to happen again just because it did the first time.

What's missed in all this is this kid had them TAPE this son of a ***** back up and went in and played the whole game the following week against arch rival Florida.

Now that takes a MAN right there guys. If you have never seen this happen you just cannot understand how BAD it looks. It will make a good man puke.

If I HAVE to take a turn down a back alley somewhere I want this guy covering my back. The Packers DL is going to LOVE this guy.

joints must also be factored in. linemen with ACL braces on both knees... bad joints and weak ligaments. That's a big problem with football players and becomes more pronounced in heavy linemen. harrell has no such problems, and that's a big positive.

You don't think he might have a weak ligament (or tendon - I never remember which is which) on the biceps he tore last year? Surgery can only do so much.
A lot of college players have had torn biceps and you rarely (if ever) here of them tearing it again in the pros. It's a such a flukey injury that it's almost like asking lightning to strike twice (esp when it's repaired with a somewhat stronger tendon). Heck, GB has two guys with a torn bicep after the draft (Harrell and Juwan Simpson) and you rarely here of that injury happening again. This isn't like a colarbone (ie, Charles Rodgers) or knee. That's one reason why some had Adrian Peterson lower than top 3.

Speaking of Peterson, aren't the experts touting that as a great pick up even though he managed to break his collarbone diving into an end zone with no other contact. That sounds like he has weak bones to me. Yet, Harrell is a huge red flag risk to the experts. I don't get it. I suppose it just has to do with which pick was trendy.

Didn't another stud player break his collarbone and then broke it again the following year? I think Charlie Rodgers?

Yeah, I referenced him above. He broke his collarbone after a collision with Dre Bly during the season of 2003. Everyone wrote it off as a fluke and he was supposed to come back and be a great player in 04. Then, in just the third play of the 2004 regular season, Rodgers broke his collarbone again and was out for that season.

It is a really tricky injury and, from a healthy standpoint, I'd much rather have a DL who was doing 23 reps of 225 6-7 months after a torn bicep than a RB who's facing even more complications after a broken collarbone.
