Well, we already know who has already secured their job leading the pack of first-year HCs .... Our own Matt LaFleur !!!! .... Insert cheers bottoms up

Anyhow, Carolina and Washington already got a jump start into the HC market, and now several key names will likely be joining them

Almost Certain Departures

1. Pat Shurmur - I gotta be thinking at the moment he's probably the surest bet to go. Giants certainly have a mountain of tasks to do to get back to the competitive force they once were, but Shurmur doesn't seem to be showing that he's going to be the one to lead that return.

2. Doug Marrone - it would seem his shelf life has expired there in Jacksonville, and with Coughlin out of the front office now, Marrone's likely going to be the second shoe to drop

3. Dan Quinn - while it certainly is baffling to think that the Falcons were in complete disarray for the first 8 weeks to then suddenly knock down both the Saints and 49ers on the road coupled with a bit of a turnaround, most sports articles seem to indicate it's too little too late. Only if owner Blanc really thinks there's something there to build off of heading to next year would be Quinn staying. But that doesn't seem to be the current narrative.

In Trouble But Still A Small Chance They Stay

4. Jason Garrett - contract expiring, Jerruh appearing to want to see the goods ... Garrett is going to have to make something happen this time. Failing to make or being one and done in the playoffs and he's done. Years where he's won one playoff game have kept him around, but it may take more than one win or even be a superbowl win or bust year for him.

5. Anthony Lynn - While there doesn't seem to be any hot rumors that Lynn is facing a loss of job security, the current state of the Chargers appears to be troubling. One thing that is very possible is moving on from Rivers at the end of this season, and if their next QB is a rookie, would they want him running the team and developing him? Lynn could stay but there's quite a few questions here.

6. Freddy Kitchens - well the reports on this have been mixed, and this could be a week to week consideration for the Browns' ownership. But it's tough to argue about Kitchens looking in over his head going from offensive coordinator to head coach. If they think he's grown into the role enough, he may get one more season. But he's certainly not in the safest position right now.

Should Go But Appear To Be Staying

7. Zac Taylor - a reach of a hire and it's probably safe to say he's in over his head even if the Bengals are talent depleted. He probably won't be fired though given the Bengals ownership long rope given to his incompetent predecessor and probably hoping to restock Taylor's roster.

8. Adam Case - by far and away the biggest clown head coach to get hired last year, and there's little doubt Jets fans will have little patience if his awful tactics keep up. But the Jets ownership already came out saying he'll be back, so barring a sudden unexpected reversal, he's going to be around a little longer.

9. Matt Patricia - the Lions have made it official Patricia will return in 2020, but this will be his last chance. Stafford's injury may have let him off the hook this year, but so far he's done nothing to show he is an upgrade over Caldwell. All the Lions have likely done here is delay the inevitable.

With the mess they've had in Cleveland, they should really move on from Kitchens. Looks like a clear lack of discipline there, they should give McCarthy the job, like they should have last year.

Possibly, but I got this feeling MM is going to go to Atlanta if Quinn is gone. Mainly because he'd have a better setup there.

Well could very well be MM is heading to Cleveland

Black Monday updates:

Well, not surprisingly Pat Shurmur is out of the NYG, a move that most expected. General Manager Dave Gettleman will stay though.

Freddie Kitchens also is gone, a move that was floated around but it seems was ultimately sealed when the Browns lost to the Bungles yesterday

The Redskins have now fired general manager Bruce Allen who joins Jay Gruden in the unemployment line

There are currently conflicting rumors arising out of Dallas as to what's going to happen with Garrett; him walking seems to be coming but no official word yet.

Same in Jacksonville, though all rumor seems to point to Marone leaving town.

A surprising no firing is Dan Quinn in Atlanta, and all announcements are that he will be there in 2020, but with a mandate to make the playoffs no doubt.

Patricia and Gase will also have to make the playoffs or be fired, and while Anthony Lynn also appears staying, the Chargers may be trading Rivers out of there this off season.
