I'm on the same page as you with Caleb. I honestly did not expect him to do as well as he has this season. The Bears have played about as crappy as I expected, and been coached as terribly as I expected. Maybe even moreso. If that team doesn't destroy him like they did with Fields and Trubitsky (neither of whom had his abilty, but still had a lot of potential), he has a really good future. But I think the Bears are still at least a year and maybe three from knowing what they need to do to move him along. His future depends on the next coach they hire, and how lomg it takes him to settle in, hire a staff, surround him with the right team and the right coaching staff, and create the right program to develop him. I like the kid, I really do. And the more I see of him, the more I respect him. I read an article yesterday saying that the best thing for everyone would be for them to trade him away for a package including another 1st rounder in 2026. Which sounded crazy (and probably is), but at least raised the point that the organization is nowhere near ready to do what needs to be done to bring him to the next level - and by the time they are ready, and have the program stabilized enough to bring him along, Williams will have become the next David Carr or Andrew Luck. I think that's an overstatement, but I can understand the point of the argument. One thing I do agree with, though, is that they're going to be in a state of complete disarray for at least a season or two, during the time when Williams most needs stability and guidance. If they don't get some leadership in there sooner than later, that kid may never reach whatever his full potential might have been.
