Let's tackle one of the guys' I have circled as that "potential steal" type. That guy that has at times shown elite level performances but has seemingly been sporadic just enough to suffer and have the issue of injuries to a degree derailing his final year in college.... I spoke about this guy early in the 2025 Draft Prospect thread: Tacario went back to school after a rougher 2024 season, the year he was to cement his Top 50 no doubt status and fight for likely being one of the first CBs off the board...that due to his 2023 season where this young man SHUT DOWN everyone he saw almost routinely except for a rough game against Oregon State. His footwork was and still his incredible for a guy his size...but man coverage while surely embraces, his cleanest and best reps come from zone calls where he can use his instincts, size and athleticism to close lanes and bait QBs even. Even though 2024 wasn't the year he wanted, he didn't give up a TD last year - he's a very tough Red Zone corner to target given he's 6'4' and there is likely less than five WRs he'll face in the NFL he cannot jump with....this year he was scored on just one time....so five touchdowns against over a three year period with four of those actually coming in his best season 2023. This year he had a solid year but it was marred with injury after suffering a rib issue and then a hamstring - injuries had never been an issue at Arizona (2022-2024) and those types of injuries happen, especially for a bigger framed physical CB. Which speaking of which the one shining aspect of his game is tackling. He is one of the better tackling CB prospects likely over the last few years IMO....not a violent hitter but a guy that uses his incredible length to his advantage and wraps up more often than not. He put on 5 pounds from 2024 which is a good thing as at 6'4' his long leaner frame could hold it for sure. Is he a blazer speed CB? No...I suspect his top speed at testing will be 4.44 or so but so long as he breaks 4.5 that should be impressive for a guy with incredibly long strides that can match most receivers. He's a guy I think will have very mixed opinions and won't be shocked if there are some pundits out there rocking a second round grade on him while others are in the fourth round or so. Personally, I love the young man and think in the right system he could be special....and there is always space for a willing tackler in my defense for sure.
