[QUOTE="Magooch, post: 1048159, member: 17987"] It's a tough call for me because when he DOES play he's still generally a very, very good player, arguably an elite one (#7 on PFF's preseason rankings this year; #1 overall grade from 2020-2022). So I guess the question is kind of...which is worse? A.) A player who takes up a ton of money, misses a lot of games, but plays at a very high level when available or B.) A player who takes up a ton of money, doesn't miss very many games, but doesn't play particularly well in them For instance Kenny Clark has a higher cap hit than Jaire this year (~26m vs ~23m), and he's played a lot more this year, but he's been basically invisible for much of the season. Is that better or worse for us than Jaire's situation? And then you get into the question of strictly cap hit vs total contract, or vs draft capital invested (how do you put a number on that?). Many have complained about Gary; he has the second highest AAV on the team and has not played a ton more than Alexander (by snap counts: ~64% vs ~56%) and has not been particularly good in most games. Stokes and LVN both were first-round picks, but both of them have played *less* than Alexander, and have been largely been less impactful than him when they have played. I guess all that to say that when I look at all of our "questionable investments" I can't get too upset about Jaire's compared to some others. It sucks to be paying a guy that kind of money when he's missing a lot, but he's generally proven himself to be worth the price tag when he can play. And I don't buy that he has "gone soft" or is ducking games or anything like that. On the contrary he is usually the guy asking coach to be able to be manned up against the other team's #1.
