If there is one coach in baseball who could turn this rest into an advantage it's Murph.

Thanks easy83. Best comment I've seen on the rest v rust debate.

Murph will have them doing something each day, and he'll give them some time off as well. I think this is a good time to drill the basics, especially on D, batting, base running. The little things that have to be done 100% correctly. These are things the Brewers do very well, and Murph is not gonna let them lose one second of momentum.

I'm just offering up, in the rest versus rust debate, that a full week off will give the Crew a respite of sorts from the euphoric high of blowing the Dodgers out of the water. They've had time to soak it all in and set it aside to focus on a team that won 98 games this season. These guys aren't slouches and as mentioned earlier - Murph will keep them grounded.

Good point. It's possible the team could be caught up in a "we-made-it-to-the-ws high" for a few days. And they should. But right about now Murph has to be getting them ready for the Rays. I think the Brewers are the better team. As you note weeds, the Rays won 98 games. Not exactly chopped liver. The WS awaits them.

I'm hearing a lot of fans expecting a cake walk for The Crew. Guess that's why they play the games... but the Rays aren't slouches. I'm feeling a tough series.
Yeah there have been a number of comments on the Brewers' as favorites in the WS v the Rays. Good excuse for complacency.

Not gonna happen. Murphy is gonna keep that under control and have them fighting for every run, for every out.

Woodruff pitched to love batters today

They have to decide what to do with him

Is has to be better then May
When I read this, I thought that he would probably be a good reliever. I don't know if I would feel comfortable with him starting, but like you said, he's gotta be better than May. I cringe when he comes on the mound.:cautious:

Maybe it's just sloppy sentimentality or out of a sense of loyalty (to a multi-millionaire athlete?? Really?) but I sincerely hope that the Crew can find some way to get Woodie into a game for a couple of batters-just enough that he gets a line in the box score of a WS game provided it wouldn't impact the outcome of a game. He seems like such a good guy and all, but, hasn't pitched since July 4th. Bypassed surgery but that could mean anything... I have my doubts as to whether he can make a serious comeback and that makes me sad.

Google gave me this from the NY Times: "He threw off a mound during the NLCS and tossed 23 pitches (reaching 90–92 mph) in a live batting practice session facing hitters like Christian Yelich and William Contreras"

Freddy Peralta has been lights out

His coach altered his mound stance, his release speed and one other thing I forget

He has been pitching as well as anyone
He's had a great season in TB, no doubt. It will be an interesting homecoming, and fun to watch.

Yeah weeds Woodruff is a fan favorite - and if it helps the Brewers win a game - I'd be ecstatic if he could get an inning or two during the series. But there has to be a good reason. I'm a sentimental guy, but winning comes first.

I trust the guys ability to give us a few quality innings. That is assuming that he has more velocity in his arm than 90-92, I would assume that he wasn't throwing at full power.

Eh apparently that is the best he can do. Love the guy but that won't cut it out of the pen.

Was watching NFL replay and they were talking about the passing of Fernando Valensuela a few years back. They mentioned that in one game he threw 147 pitches. Now days a long game is 90-100.

If Brewers win, what is the greasiest, grimiest musical out there? Like whoever made it ripped you off and dident care one bit kind of musical? Already got Chicago on the watchlist if they win it all.
