The Zone Blocking scheme takes time. Anyone who expected rookie guards to come in and excel right away were holding very high expectations. They are just starting to catch on and you can see it with their play. As the year has went on the offense has added more and your starting to see the backs and tight ends go down the field more. Favre hasn't been sacked that much this year at all and The Packers offense ranks 9th in the NFL. It’s also very rare to find an NFL team that can plug in 3 rookie offensive lineman and all 3 do a respectable job in their 1st year. By no means is this article or anyone crowning them to be great right now but the future looks good with them up front. Also Green Bay is 7-8 and REBUILDING. Are people forgetting this? I know most Thompson critics don't like the fact that Thompson is rebuilding Green Bay with Favre in his final years but the absolute truth is Thompson used the 1st season to clear up cap space because it needed to be done. He didn’t have a wide set of options and it needed to be fixed. His 2nd year he had one of the better Drafts Green Bay has had in a long time and most around the league from NFC North personnel have made comment on it. Charles Woodson has been the best free agent pickup for this team since Ron Wolf ran things. So while 7-8 isn't overly impressive the future in Green Bay is bright and if Favre commits to 1 or 2 more years, Green Bay has the ability to do something special as the youth grows together and as we add some free agents with the cap we have now. This team is on the up where as two years ago the future wasn’t looking to great.
