Two things good came out of the Packers' opener Sunday night against the Bears. They won the game. And they came out of it with no real reason to become complacent about their next 2 upcoming games with relative NFL "weak sisters." Sunday night's game left plenty of room for improvement and some doubt about just how good the '09 Packers are or can be. They need to show that improvement and that potential in this week's game with the Cincinnati Bengals at Green Bay. Everything the Packers couldn't or didn't do against the Bears, especially on offense, they must against the Bengals. A close, struggling game, even if it is a win, would force a re-estimation of the Packers from what they showed in preseason. We need to see that preseason team, the way it was with the regulars on the field, that wasn't evident last Sunday night. The Bengals are the team, the game is at Lambeau, the Packers are solid favorites to win; all about the perfect opportunity & occasion for that preseason team to reappear. The offensive line will be under a microscope after getting handled by Chicago's defensive front last week. The Bengals aren't that good but they aren't terrible either. If our guys can't win the war in the trenches here, what are they going to do at Minnesota? This is the game to untrack the rushing attack. Ryan Grant should get his first 100 yd. game of the season. Aaron Rodgers and his receivers should be at 250+ yds.and 2-3 td's in this one. The defense can't play much better than last week but another stellar effort like that one would be reassuring. Maybe a few more sacks, at least the same number of turnovers, more impact play from B.J Raji, NIck Barnett, Aaron Rouse would raise hopes even more. This is a game the Packers should score 30+ in and allow 13-. Rev the engine, hit the accelerator, and clear out the carbon on all cylinders. And make this game the start of a season of a playoff roll.
