Does anyone else get the feeling that this has been rammed down our throats? I never felt that there was any groundswell of support until Murphy started pushing it.

Even if Peppers is past his prime, other teams will still need to respect him. This should free up Matthews, et. al. We're not such a one-person defense anymore.
