For two clubs that have lived their histories first in separate leagues and then different conferences the Packers and Kansas City Chiefs have managed to form a unique relationship that will be highlighted and renewed on Monday night. http://www.kcchiefs.com/news/articl...Football/93e52c97-a19d-41e2-8676-c74bddecc8c7 .

Of course, as the NFL gets set to celebrate the 50th year of the Super Bowl it is only natural to recall the game that joined these two franchises in launching that history in the very first Super Bowl ever played. People under age 55 won't remember it or weren't even born yet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_I .

Although the Packers decisively won that first and most important of meetings the Chiefs did come back to win the last AFL vs NFL Super Bowl 3 years later and make the Packers the only NFL Champion to win against the AFL in Super Bowl competition.

In years since the Packers and Chiefs became regular preseason match-ups but Monday will be only the 12th time in regular season competition that they have played one another. And KC has been winning that series 7-3-1. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/game_query.cgi?tm1=gnb&tm2=kan&yr=all.

The Chiefs have been particular spoilers to the Packers in two of those games. They prevented the Packers from becoming only the third team to complete an undefeated regular season in 2011.

And in 1989 they prevented the Packers from winning their division and making the playoffs with a Week 14 upset win. That season Green Bay missed the playoffs by just one game.
