AWESOME

7 Year - 52 Mil

He will be here 3 years tops, and wont see much of that money. The bonus\guaranteed money is whats imporant there.

Good deal, good player, good Defensive Backfield now (jury still out on manuel)

good info, danny!

(edit - i still would have liked other, cheaper, healthier CBs, but Woodson is still a solid player and an instant upgrade.)

Most of the money are probably in the final few years of his contract.

Tromadz, it looks like your hatred for carroll starting is finally resolved.

Wed, 26 Apr 2006 15:14:24 -0700

Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports the Green Bay Packers have reached a seven-year deal with free agent CB Charles Woodson (Raiders) worth around $45 million. While the deal has been agreed to, Woodson has yet to sign the deal.

Overpaid an old guy.

Had to say it as I hear that everytime the Vikes sign a free agent.

Nice upgrade for you guys, tho.

I don't think this is necessarily a knock on Carroll. You can never have enough DB's.

Big money....but I will not accuse TT of overpaying. He paid what he had to to get him. That is the Fair market value!

I really, really don't like Woodson, but we'll have to wait and see how much he's guarenteed. On the surface, 7 years, 52 mil makes me want to jump into traffic, but it's probably super incentive based.

this will give hawk\carroll a chance to fight over nickel, and to improve as CBs in general...

good news.

this could screw up a lot of mock drafts.

It'll be interesting to see what profootballtalk has to say about the contract. I'm sure that the deal is in no way a true 7 year deal and is more likely than not a deal that looks much better on paper than it actually is. Perhaps he will take a huge hit on this years cap, which we have room for, and little on the following years. It will be interesting to see. Carroll will now get the job he probably should of had the last couple years as the 3rd string CB and time to develop.

There is no such thing as a 7 year contract in the NFL.

Wasnt T.O.s philly contract 7 years?

Ask Diggs how his long contract turned out too.

Guys get cut when they get too expensive. Nature of the beast.

I think he will be playing safety by week 6. Collins and Woodson at safety. Harris and Carroll at corner with Hawkins and Manuel providing the depth. Like I said...you can never have enough good DB's.

Al is our #1 no doubt. He was amazing vs Teams #1 WRs last year. Yeah he is getting up there in age, but tell that to him!

Woodson is definitely our #2.

Its a debate\problem thats good to have though!

LOL. Good Times.

I cant wait to see the specifics of this contract(bonus\guaranteed money, AND the first 2 years of the contract)

Defense is lookin real nice.

no die hard pack fan just disappointed that we waived on better players to get a hurt, overpaid corner, what happened to ty law he's old but can still play why not pay him 52 mill.

I'm not smart enough to know if it's a good deal or not. These NFL contracts are goofy. I just know he will look good in G&G.

Ty Law is garbage. He got alot of interceptions last year but he was burned so much more. I'd rather have Carroll in the 2 spot than Law.
