I've been watching the WNBA. Mostly the Indiana Fever. Caitlan Clark is that good. She's a force out there and she gets some hard fouls directed at her. These ladies aren't afraid to mix it up on the floor. They don't take any guff from anyone. The games are interesting.

I see that ticket sales for the Indiana Fever playing in Chicago against the Sky have dropped down to near nothing because Caitlin Clark won't be playing for the Fever when they visit the city.

So much for all the BS from some of the players that it isn't Clark who is packing stadiums it's them. They aren't getting the attendance except in games against the Fever when they visit, but yet, some of the older women and even some new ones are whining that Clark gets too much attention and it's really all about them.

I think we know who fills stadiums. It would be like players on the Philadelphia Athletics whining that it isn't Babe Ruth coming in to visit that's filling those seats. It's the pathetic team that gets 3,000 attendances instead of the 25,000 when Ruth's in town.

I dont watch, but see clips on News feed. I was kind of interested in Caitlin Clark, but now it's starting to feel pro-wrestling like with all the drama being manufactured.

Well then switch your attention to Paige Bueckers. She has been playing pretty great from the start. Check out the SportsCenter recap of her game last night. She hits hard shots, gets steals, passes the ball well, and enables her teammates to score. Of course there are other great players in the WNBA including Breanna Stewart, Napheesa Collier, etc.

I liked watching Clark in college. She really elevated Iowa with her shooting and passing, but I also think that the fame caused her to press her shots a little too much towards the end. She's figuring her way around the WNBA. I'm pretty sure that I would have failed miserably with all of the attention and scrutiny that she gets at 23yrs old.

I watched Bueckers too. She's a darned good player as well. The two are really changing the face of the WNBA, and I'm not referring to skin color, I'm talking about the finesse they bring to the court. The problem is, officiating has allowed the both of them to be constantly mugged on the court and no fouls called, yet a hand check will bring a foul. It doesn't make sense. They need to improve the consistency in their officiating and stop the petty chippy attitude some players constantly display out there with aggression after a play.

Caitlin Clark's the real deal. Aside from her shooting and passing, she has some undefinable charisma that draws people to watch her. What's more, she treats her fans probably better than anyone in sports, especially the younger kids.

She came back from her injury in today's game, and she played insanely well. 32 points, 7 three pointers, and 9 assists, as the Fever handed the New York Liberty their first loss of the year. I live in Indiana, so it was a welcome balm for the crushingly disappointing loss by the Pacers in Game 4 of the Finals last night.

One thing I really like about WNBA games is the 10 minute quarters. You can watch an entire game in just two hours, and you can't say that about many pro sporting events. That said, I only watch Fever games.

Speaking of Caitlin Clark, they've been putting out videos like this recently, which I think are pretty funny. Especially about Clark, who always takes care to say all the right things. AI is getting better all the time.

It's scary to me that anybody can do that. Wow! I mean unless it's egregious, anyone can make little changes that have an anticipated effect.

I’m not a supporter of this past my compassion for those that are confused. God spoke to me in prayer that some people are confused and I don’t look at that any different than if you had an illness? would I beat up on you?? No
Are you trying to say that women should not play basketball?

I watched the game too. She lit it up early, and when they started double and triple-teaming her, she moved off the ball and created openings for others who were able to get a lot of lay-ins. NY was unbeaten until yesterday, and the Fever soundly stomped them.

I love watching Clark and Boston playing together. Boston has the smoothest backside cuts I think I've ever seen and Clark hits her with dimes.

As long as theres is a signed waiver for a genetic test that clearly matches all other gender DNA in that sport before entering the league. Then I’m 100% all for it. That goes for Men also and at all levels of sports so there’s zero question and no debate whatsoever.

Okay, so you're saying biological men shouldn't play in women sports. That's a very different argument, and I agree.

I decided to look at the 3 replays of incidents with Caitlin Clark in their last game. I think this has gone far enough. Two of the three were intended to be violent and could easily be construed as an attempt to injure her. This whole thing is out of hand.

The league better start dishing out long suspensions, and fines that make this whole thing stop. It's really hurting their game, and the viewership which supports the game.

If guys in the NBA did some of the things they're doing with the same intention as the women, they'd be getting longer term discipline taken against them, and some could end up sitting for the entire season. There's no room for anyone on the court who intends to injure another player.

I watched that game, that was crazy. The refs really need to take control of these games, because things are out of hand. Clark got hit in the eye, then shoved, but that wasn't enough. Then Marina Mabrey had to come up after the whistle and knock her down. She actually knocked her into the referee, and Clark bounced off the ref on the way to the ground. Mabrey should have at least been ejected.

Then late in the game Sophia Cunningham made a hard foul on Jacy Sheldon (who had hit Clark in the eye earlier), who got up and charged her, and the two got into a fight and had to be separated by security. Lindsey Allen of the Sun also got involved, although she may have been just trying to defuse the situation. In any case, all three got ejected.

The feeling is Sophia Cunningham made the hard foul in retaliation for Sheldon hitting Clark, so some think she may end up being suspended out of all of them, which seems a little screwy, but it wouldn't surprise me. The WNBA definitely seems to look the other when Clark is getting roughed up.

I've been watching the NBA playoffs, and while the refs make questionable calls, there's no way they would allow this type of thing to go on. But it seems to be fairly routine in the WNBA.

Is this just pure racism against her?
I think most of the players directly involved yesterday were all white. Jacy Sheldon is the exception, but I really think she went in there to break up the scrap. I do think there is racism against Clark, but it doesn't appear to have played a part in this instance. There is, however, a lot of petty jealousy against her, not just because of her abilities, but because she makes a LOT of money in merchandising. Because the WNBA does not pay very much, since the league had never turned a profit. She also brings in more attention than anyone else, because ratings and attendance increase dramatically when she is playing (even in road games). She's the kind of figure who brings in viewers much like Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods did.

I hope the coaches don't have anything to do with it. Although permitting it is something. And you are right about the refs and I don't understand that. Are they spineless?

Looks that way. Would you want to stand up to some of those six foot women lol?

Another note: Apparently Sophie Cunningham, who allegedly retaliated with the hard foul Tuesday night, is known as an "enforcer", and has a black belt in tae kwon do that she earned when she was six years old! It's kind of funny to me because she is thin as a rail, and also because I also have a relative in the family who has a black belt and teaches tae kwon do. And this is getting off topic, but I think Sophie has the best hair in the league. :whistling:

Further, the president of the league must be spineless. Or worse, likes it for the publicity. The women have a niche and they shoot very well. Building up their sport takes time. I don't think these sorts of things help. The demand is what it is.

Is it racism? Probably not as much as the jealousy that women who have been the backbone of the league feel that Clark is getting too much attention and they aren't getting enough.

The reality of it all is that the majority of the teams in the league have drawn poor attendance over the years and barely survive, and when Clark came in last year, the viewership on TV and ticket sales have gone up significantly. They're out of line regardless of which way it goes.

The one that is a racist when it comes to Clark is Angel Reese with the Sky. She's had nothing but contempt for her from years past in college and has carried that hatred into the league.

As far as Britney Griner goes, she thinks she's supposed to be the queen of the league after coming back from her stupidity with vaping material in Russia. She hates Clark because she's stealing her thunder. It's all jealousy on this one I believe.

Did you know Griner was caught on video clearly mouthing "Trash F-word white girl" (I censored that)? You can't hear it, but it's a very easy lip read. She's another story altogether. There is an old video of her playing basketball topless, around a pool I think, and that physique looks male to me, although I don't want to make any accusations. There have been frequent such rumors about her, like that it wasn't her decision, that her mother had always raised her as a girl, and that the Russians kept her in a male prison. But I repeat, these are just rumors.

I don't doubt for a moment that was the words coming out of Griner's mouth. It's a gut reaction comment triggered by the jealousy, and the wording itself is from years of division we've seen with people. I know quite a few people, and I've heard both white and black people make that same comment, just like I've heard both make the same using the N-word. So many years of division doesn't just disappear overnight. I expect it will be there for several more generations, until people truly look past color of skin, religious differences, and even geographical prejudices. It wasn't all that long ago that people coming from Italy were called *****, or Wops. The Irish were Micks, Germans Krauts, and French Frogs.
