Read a nice article this morning on Will Blackmon. Wish I could find it again to link...anyone??

Sounds like he has been tearing things up, and will get significant additional time with the first unit as Woodson, as typical, will not be here for the majority of OTAs. If this kid can stay healthy, our secondary seems as though it should be in very good shape.

Anyone else hear/witness anything on Blackmons performance?

Packernet is a site that collects articles and has a couple on Blackmon. I would post it here but my ability to cut and paste left me at around age five.

I am intrigued by Walker's combination of speed, and his well displayed desire to smack people around.

Me too!
I think our D NEEDS a little attitude! Hopefully he can help bring that to the table!

I was happy to hear how much time and effort Blackmon has put into coming back strong this year, throughout the offseason. I called the draft pick, and I went to school at his alma mater, so I'm really pulling for him. He can be a very smooth, fast, playmaker for us on D and ST.

this guy was a stud in college. he played WR, but due to injuries in the defensive back field, his coaches asked him to switch to cb. he played great at both positions. some say his switch to defence made him become a tweener, which alllowed to drop to the 4th round.

IMHO, packers are pretty deep at cb, blackmon may be a big time player for the Packers. Very unselfish to switch to cb your final year in college

I remember my disappointment last year when Blackmon went down. I cursed his bad luck. But apparently he used his off-season well by paying for personal specialists and a trainer to bring him back better than before. If he doesn't make it, it won't be for lack of effort. But that's negative thinking and has no place in a discussion of this athlete. Guys like Will, Korey Hall, Rouse and Jackson will be the new, and faster, face of the Packers this year. Let's pray that they all stay healthy so they can realize the dreams they've worked so hard for.

Blackmon, Dendy, and Walker make a pretty nice reserve CB corp if you ask me. Walker is probably the favorite, despite being new to the team, to earn the Nickel CB spot just based on his experience level. Who knows though? Maybe Blackmon or Dendy might step up if Walker struggles.

Strike that! Reverse it. He played corner through his junior year and had to move to WR as a senior. He was one of the top CB prospects in college until the switch, when he kind of fell off the map. He is one of those guys who can take a reverse one way, get stopped, turn it and cross the entire field for a TD. He's also one of those players (along with Brandon Jackson etc.) whose game will benefit greatly with an increase in their explosiveness from the weight program.

I agree Retired!!!
I'll tell you.....I think the Packer D is gonna have a great season! And if they do so, it will take alot of pressure off the O, and of course Brett, and make it that much better all around. I think that in itself will help our running game, as Favre won't feel like he has to throw all day to keep the team in the game.
It opens up alot more possibilities.

I hope Blackmon can stay healthy. I'm hoping he can really be a big contributor to our team, not only on D but also as a return guy.
I'm also excited about our defense. Combine a top notch D and what I think is going to be an excellent kicking game, it will definitely help out our offense.
If there are any shutouts this year, I think the Packers will be pitching them.

I know when I talked with him he was pretty bitter at the idea that everyone thinks Walker already has the nickel job...........

Woudln't that be SWEET to be able to "repay" the Bears for last year? If they still have "Wrecks" as their QB, we may just be able to get that done!

Actually I think it was the other way around. My understanding is he was a CB and because they needed more offense he was switched over. My inderstanding is he could have been one of the top one or two CB's in last years draft had he not been switched in college.

A massive injury(lord no!) is the only thing that will keep this guy off the 53. He will give any other wannabe a run for his money at the nickle. In no more than two years he'll be our starting corner. Put money on it!
