Our **** public education systems don't teach these things.
People wonder why I haven't had a real job in over 8 years.

Marry right. That's the easiest way.

But seriously, money makes people miserable, it's all about who you surround yourself with in life that makes you rich in life. Money comes and goes but good relationships don't.

Haha, yeah, we're going to get owned. I was just trying to be the stereotypical ***. I won't be poor, but it's not going to be quite the compensation you see today. Besides, "I didn't go into medicine for the money."

(Quotes added because that's what they want us to say, but there's not a single doctor out there who can't say that some of the incentive was money.)

Depends on what you definition of rich is. $1M, $10M, $100M?

I'm pretty sure I'll reach the $1M total net worth in my lifetime. However, $1M net worth just means your doing good, but far from independently wealthy or RICH as I'd call it.

I know somebody worth $25M, and for him, "Making it" is having over $100M. He told me that flat out. He looks up to the guy he knows who is worth $300+M. He said, and I qoute "You know, you really can only say you've made it if you have over $100M"

Rich is relative. The more $$ you have, the more you think you need. And honestly, all the guys I've met who are filthy rich, are insane megalomaniacs who generally have horrible family relationships.

At the funeral of a man worth $50M, his relatives struggled to say anything nice, and at the dinner before the funeral were talking bad about him. I found it fascinating and sad to watch.

When I was in school, most guys I knew said they were going into medicine to get rich. Plain and simple. Wasn't for any humanitarian reasons at all.

I worked in the medical field and nearly applied to medical school. I decide it wasn't the life for me in the end.

I still think Doctors will make a nice living don't get me wrong, and especially specialists with still pull down the $$$.

I was just talking smack. I've yet to meet a established doctor who lives in any home less than $1M

Or you could just live your life knowing you are happy, content and comfortable in your own skin. Knowing who you are, finding yourself within, to me, is more valuable on a soul level than anything money can buy. If you are happy with what your are doing, be that a doctor or a garbage collector, than you are already far beyond someone with a 10 mil a year income who is miserable and hates what they do. Things of the material world can be lost just as quickly as they are found. What comes to us in this life, we are blessed to have. To me, just knowing my path in life, my family and close friends, an abundance of love surrounding me, I am already blessed beyond anything I could want in this mortal realm.

Nobody knows their future path in life totally, even if you think you are psychic.

Having enough money to allow that path to go thru Hawaii, Australia, Tahiti, Brazil, Thailand, a cruise, etc. is something I feel everyone should aspire to. There are so many gorgeous, cool, fun, neat, amazing places on this planet that most of us never get to see! There's no harm or materialism trying to see those places.

Peace and love are great. But they don't pay for airfare or accomodations around the world. Or country.

I understand. I guess I'm just content with my life right now. I know who I am and what I am about. I'm grounded instead of being a feather in the wind like I once was. Sure I aspire to greater things, but my point was, I feel I am very blessed in what I have now. Who knows what tomorrow will bring. I think it is important to build for a better future, to be smart with your finances and live within your means. There are places on this earth I'd love to see, but my greatest journey will always be spiritual.

Kiyosaki admitted he made up the whole Rich dad/Poor dad stories. After that I just saw him as a hustler.

Speak for yourself. If I end up with a solid gold jet ski that I can ride around in my indoor wavepool while wearing a swimsuit made of Euros I'll be happy as a clam. :p

    Reminds me of a story:

An American businessman was at the pier of a small coastal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellowfin tuna. The tourist complimented the fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them.

The Mexican replied, "Only a little while."

The businessman then asked, "Why didn't you stay out longer and catch more fish?"

The Mexican said, "With this I have more than enough to support my family's needs."

The businessman then asked, "But what do you do with the rest of your time?"

The Mexican fisherman said, "I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siesta with my wife, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos."

The businessman scoffed, " I can help you. You should spend more time fishing; and with the proceeds, buy a bigger boat: With the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats. Eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a middleman you would sell directly to the processor; eventually opening your own cannery. You would control the product, processing and distribution. You could leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then Los Angeles and eventually New York where you could run your ever-expanding enterprise."

"But what then?" asked the Mexican.

The businessman laughed and said, "When the time is right you would sell your company stock to the public and become very rich, you would make millions."

    "Then what?"

The American said, "Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos."

You got it. Its all relative.

I spent some time in the poor areas of Africa. Using that as a standard, there are very few poor people in America. Your average cashier at the local grocery store is rich.

One of the weirdest eyeopening conversations I ever had was trying to explain storage rental places to this guy in Tanzania. He had heard about it. He just couldn't wrap his mind around the idea where you would have some much stuff, you would rent out space in order to store it. Why would you need it or even want it?

Amazing isn't it?? Only in America do we rent homes for our "stuff"!! Some even rent multiple storage areas!
I say homes, because it is almost like it!
I refuse to do it, so my home looks like one of those hoarder houses! LOL!!
*I'm hunkered in a corner hoping a stack of sports illustrated doesn't topple!:fie: hehee!!

I am all set!! I plan on selling my ticket stubs of Brett Favre's last game at Lambeau. That's right baby cha ching! Everyone get in a single file line and no pushing! Vikings fans can start the bidding! Since he has had them on a leash this season, they have first right of refusal to hit my reserve $ amount.
