I just saw on espn that nahamndi asomugh will be a free agent since he didn't meet his incentives also the raiders will not be able to franchise him. Last time we went with a cb from the raiders it turned out great you think we should maybe try our luck again?

yeah I noticed that too. They would have to pay him something close to 18 million next season to keep him. Not happening. Without knowing or understanding the cap its hard for anyone to sign someone.

The problem with signing Scrabble (My new nickname for Asomougha) is he's not really dynamic. He's a pass defense specialist only. He doesn't blitz, play the slot or really do anything more than take away the deep ball. While that's all well and good, I would be pissed if we paid him that kind of salary for the limited role he plays.

Well that is exactly the point isn't it? If you give up your future (draft picks) for a one season wonder where are you two or three years down the road.
In fact, I'm going to predict the Green Bay Packers will continue to compete in the post season simply because they don't react to "knee-jerk" reactions and will continue to be relevant for years to come.

You are 100% correct. It's just a matter of getting it through the thick heads of those fans who believe NFL teams should be run like a Fantasy Football roster or a Madden franchise.

When teams start giving up draft picks, it might not affect them right away. But a year or two down the line, when they suddenly need to replace aging talent and find all they have are low round draft picks to do so, it makes it very hard to stay competitive.

Or they wind up in salary cap hell when they find they need to re-sign several key players, but gave up too much to one guy in free agency. Sure, this past year was uncapped, but it's the exception, not the rule, and next year probably won't be uncapped. That high priced free agent you picked up in the off-season might have worked out this year, but what about next year, when his contract is up? Or, if you signed him to a multi-year, big money deal, that deal will probably impact your ability to sign additional players to rebuild your roster.

Free agency can be a great tool, but it often gets abused by teams looking to buy championships. And we all see how well that works out for them.
