This story continues the rat theme, but I thought that it was worthy of its own topic. Yesterday after work I had a craving for grilling out a steak. I got home and my wife had already started a pot of Mac and Cheese. I said that I would go to the Butcher(not Hodge) and grab some steaks. I returned 20 minutes later with some fine TBones. I went to the internet and found a new marinade. 40 minutes later the steaks were ready. It was windy so I pulled the grill into the garage. Just as I got the grill into the garage, with the help of my 7 year old daughter, I saw with the corner of my eye a small mouse run out of the garage. I grabbed a shovel to smash it, but couldn't find it. I then lit the grill. 5 seconds later I heard some faint 'peeping', but wasn't sure where from. I went inside, grabbed the steaks, and threw them on the grill. I then heard something under the grill. It was a baby mouse that had managed to escape the holocostic oven and fall to the floor. THE F'ING MOUSE HAD NESTED IN MY GRILL, RIGHT UNDER MY STEAKS! I chill went down my spine. I grabbed the shovel, scooped up the twitching, medium rare cooked baby mouse, and threw it into the yard. I finished him off by cutting him in half.

Now the question: Do I continue to cook the steaks, not really knowing if there are more babies being charred? Or, do I abandon the steaks and eat Mac and Cheese?

Did the mouse or the smoke from it ever touch your steaks?

The baby mouse (or mice) definately did not touch the steaks. I have a smallish grill, but I kept the steaks to the opposite side from where I could see the nest. I am thinking of opening the grill this morning to see what lies beneth the grate.

My daughter ran inside after seeing the baby and gave my wife a very vague description of what just happened. My wife looked at me and said "Hell no I am not eating those steaks. THis is why I should become a vegetarian". I have the second steak to eat for lunch today.

I would eat it because he didn't touch it, its probaly because I like steak a lot (especially when its rare) but maybe if you hate rats that much probaly dont eat it.

The more I think about it, the more ill I am becoming from eating the first steak. The charred mice look like shiny plastic toys. The whole thing is making me sick. I am not sure that I can ever grill out again.
