However Sharper picked against Green Bay.. go figure.

Anyway.. wonder what VikesRule, Vike4Life, Vikeman and other viking fans think about this. ;)

By MARK CRAIG, Star Tribune

The idea was to get 10 Vikings to take a moment from Wednesday's Winter Park Skedaddle to predict who will win the NFC Championship game in 17 days.

The No. 1-seeded Cowboys and the No. 2-seeded Packers were locked in a 3-3 tie atop the leaderboard when I approached left guard Steve Hutchinson. I was sure he'd break the tie rather than reach like fullback Tony Richardson did when he said, "I'd have to say ... Washington."

"I have no idea," said Hutchinson, not even looking up. "It's the NFL. Any given Sunday, bud. OK?"

That, folks, is what you call a verbal pancake. And it left me still deadlocked with time running out in the annual season-ending Winter Park Skedaddle.

But, you know what, I can't really blame Hutch for blowing off my question. Predicting the outcome of NFL games really is ridiculous -- especially in this case when there are four NFC playoff games before we even get to the title game.

But, hey, I figured since the Vikings had played four of the six NFC playoff teams this season -- beating the Giants and losing to the Redskins, Cowboys and Packers (twice) -- they might have a better idea what's going to happen.

Wrong.

"Ooh, boy, let me think," receiver Bobby Wade said. "I like Seattle."

Wade then sheepishly asked something that probably disqualifies him as an NFL "expert."

"Seattle," Wade said. "They're in the NFC, right?"

Only for the past six years.

Let's move on to Kevin Williams. As great as young Adrian Peterson is, I'd still pick K-Will No. 1 if I had to rank the most valuable Vikings.

"Washington is really on a roll; and Seattle we saw in the preseason, so I know they're doing good out there; and Green Bay, they beat us the worst, so I guess they're the best," Williams said. "I'd look at those three."

Sorry, Kevin. Picking three when the field is six doesn't cut it.

"Pick just one?" Williams said. "Maybe Seattle. But probably Green Bay, although I hope not. One of those two, but ... who knows?"

Not wanting to anger the 6-5, 311-pounder, I put him down for Green Bay and Seattle.

Safety Darren Sharper was next. The guy is smoooooth, and you know he's angling for one of these network NFL gigs in a few years. He'll give us an interesting surprise, right?

"Everybody is going to say the Cowboys because of home-field advantage," Sharper said. "But I'm going to have to say ... [pause] ... the Cowboys because they have home-field advantage."

Sharper did manage to rally shortly after that bor-RING comment. Asked about the Giants' chances after nearly beating the Patriots last week, Sharper smiled and said, "I wish we played them every week."

Linebacker Chad Greenway firmly picked the Packers, "although I'm torn about them going to the Super Bowl." Defensive end Brian Robison also stood behind the Packers, as did cornerback Antoine Winfield. Nose tackle Pat Williams picked Dallas. So did linebacker Ben Leber.

"Brett Favre has never won at Dallas [0-8]," Leber said. "You have to go with the odds."

By now, I was in my no-huddle mode as the Winter Park Skedaddle reached the two-minute warning. I needed an 11th opinion.

Just then, receiver Robert Ferguson walked by. Yeah, he has a slightly Green Bay slant to him, but there were about 50 people around Peterson and it was getting close to Hail Mary time.

"It'll come down to Green Bay and Dallas in Dallas," Ferguson said. "And Green Bay will win."

Why?

"Because Favre has never won there before," Ferguson said. "Because of that, I predict he will do some special things in that game."

And that was that. The Packers won 4-3 at the buzzer as another Winter Park Skedaddle came to a close.

i love how its an annual thing for Vikings players to predicting other teams success in the playoffs. They will have plenty of time to watch it and make the proper analysis.

I liked Hutchinson comment. The guy is probably a little miffed about being asked about the playoffs after they played their way out of it. :D

I like what Fergie said. You could tell he still likes Favre.
Fergie left because he simply didn't have the potential as our up and coming stars. I've always liked Fergie, and wish him the best as long as he's not playing the Packers. I cheered when I found out he had a 70+ yard reception.

As for Sharper, I do sense a little bit of bitterness. He trash talks the most and looks really funny chasing after Driver. The best though was when he collided with the CB and the ball went up in the air and into Martin's hands. I think that one really hit a nerve for Sharper.

Ask Sharper to predict how many QB's the Vikes will go through in the next few seasons. Or better yet, how long it will take the Vikes to release him

I truly wonder how much Sharper hates his choice not to take that pay cut

I'm sure Sharper is enjoying the money, and he's getting his garbage time picks and getting elected to the Pro Bowl, so he's happy.

Actually Sharper took the same paycut going to Minny. GB offered Sharper a very similar contract to the one he signed in Minny, but his ego decided that he couldn't stay in GB.

At the time, Sharper was due to make around $8 million that season and GB just couldn't afford that much against the cap. It was essentially built as a negotiating year for his contract, but he expected a bigger contract offer. So he was cut by GB and went looking for the biggest deal he could find. Minny came up with the best offer and the rest is history.

Personally I don't think that Sharper's ego would have allowed him to stay in GB with a new contract unless it was at least equal to what he was making.

Anyway, why in the world ask a big rival about whether the Packers will win the NFC?? Of course there's going to be a major bias against us, even though we stomped 'em. I hate them too and I hope that Tavaris Jackson remains their QB for a long time!

GO PACK GO!!!

I am going to wear my Gravedigger jersey and hope that Favre takes the Pack to the Bowl. How sweet would it be to see the Pack beat the Patriots.
