Yep, this. You just get the sense that our management simply places much, MUCH higher value on future draft capital than the majority of other serious contenders do. All of these teams either a.) already gave away a bunch to assemble their team or b.) are already in a very good position to contend for a title this year (or both) and still felt compelled to further invest in the right-now. Bills are arguably the best team in the league right now and they still went out to address one of the few weaknesses they had left. Chiefs have the most pass TDs in the league and are top-5 in passing yards and still felt like they needed to add another pass-catcher to compete. Philly have allowed the second-least points, tied for least yards, 6th in sacks, top-10 in pressures, and of course are undefeated... and went out and invested in their defense. And so on... And frankly you could make an argument that while all three of the Vikings, Lions, and Bears made moves to improve their present, future, or both, we're the only ones who did neither today. I understand the notion that perhaps we're not in much of a position to spend given our current record. Not a lot of sense in spending big on what might well be a lost season anyways but like...Does anybody really believe we'll be in a better position next year by electing to NOT make a move for any additions and holding on to those picks? It's awfully hard for me to see how we will be able to put together a team in 23/24 that's more talented than the 22/23 one. If not now, when?
