Long time, It's not a comparison of them BEFORE they were drafted. It's a comparison of WHEN they were drafted. I am with you long time fan. It doesn't mean much. I ONLY bring it up because the same people bring up the same point that there's a reason Aaron dropped in the first round of the draft. Well in that case there was a reason Brett fell where he did(2nd rnd) and Tom Brady fell where he did(past 4th round) and they turned out fine. SO we can't fault Aaron for his draft position. That's my point. So in that sense..yes you CAN compare as a point to negate draft status as a factor of NFL success. Thompson drafting Aaron in the first round is proof that he was preparing for Favre to retire. Keep in mind..Brett's been holding the franchise hostage for 3-4 years now..always doing this "decision" thing at seaon's end. Thompson had 2 other QBs (Craig Nall and JT OSullivan) in the wings already. He drafted Aaron in the first round to be a successor. And he then drafted the other young players in the last 3 years to put his stamp on the packers franchise. His players, his architecture..and slowly weeded out the ones from the old regime.
