Governor Jim Doyle released the following statement today regarding Brett Favre's return to the Green Bay Packers for a 15th season.
"In a franchise rich with history and heroes, Brett Favre has already secured his place as one of the greatest players to ever wear the green and gold. After much anticipation, I am thrilled that he will return for another season.
"Last year was tough for many Packer fans, and I know it was tough for Favre as well. I hope that with his return, the Packers will once again be in the playoff hunt this year.
"Brett Favre's tremendous work ethic and willingness to go out and play hard every day represent the true spirit of Wisconsin. Favre has made incredible contributions outside of football as well - helping victims of Hurricane Katrina, and contributing millions through the Brett Favre Forward Foundation.
"I want to thank Brett Favre on behalf of Packer fans everywhere for his commitment to the Packers, Green Bay, and all of Wisconsin."
