I agree Zero. People here seem to think TT had alot of choices in this situation. Walker made it known he was done here, period. So either TT made him sit, while he was a constant disruption this whole season, and having to PAY him. OR, trade him and get what you can for him.
It was that simple. Yes, he had talent, no, he was NOT going to be a positive influence on the team. I think he would have suited up, and either faked an injury or not played up to his ability, just to spite the Packers.
Then next year he would have left, and we would have got nothing for him.

Something is better then nothing in my view.

If TT would have offered to talk about a new contract do you think Walker would have ruffled any feathers.

Goes back to TT and his group of players. I beat if Walker would have been one of his I beat he would have done something about the situation

I agreee Cheesey. We got pick 37 for a guy who would only be bad publicity for months and value in decline. In 4 years his seasons would be graded as D, C, A-, F. I believe Denver will in time regret what it has done.

With what we got from Walker Thompson turned into a second round pick, a fourth, and 2 sixth round picks. Walker's "negotiations" are now Denver's headache.

Almost all bad attitude guys from 2004 are gone and replaced with "Packer People". Anyone catch the Colledge interview wherein Darryn was asked "Do you think you can come in and start?" He responded "I will give it my all to earn a starting spot."

How refreshing!!

The attitude of the first 2 picks will make them leaders on this team in the future years. Walker's former Jersey # should be given out right away.

you make a great point calicheez...Colledge is supposed to have a nasty attitude...which this team lost when Wahle went to Carolina...he's just what they need!

Same thing for Hawk...coupling an aggressive, assertive, hard hitting leader with guys like Collins and Barnett (2 other solid leaders and or hard hitters) will add a much needed attitude to this defense!

Maybe i'm wrong, but i don't think the "one of his" line of thinking is right. I think TT wants to do whats best for the Packers. I REALLY don't think he cares who drafted him, or any other player. That is just something made up by people that don't like Thompson. Otherwise, why is Favre still here, or Green, or William Henderson, or Driver, and so on?

If TT had offered a new contract to Walker it would have sent out a message to other players and we would have got more incidents like this. TT handled it correctly.

Yea. Do we want every player who goes to the Pro Bowl demanding a new contract the following off season?

I surely don't!

They way he let Kampman, Green, Bubba ( last year) and a few others walk..since they are not "his players" he just had to let them go right?

O wait, he re-signed them :p

Trading them when they demand it sends the same message. Tough situation but I think we got all we were going to get for him. Maybe we should have thrown him a bone after he got hurt in game 1. who knows what would have made him happy.

Using the nfl draft value chart, the picks we ended up with total 563 points or the #34 pick, we gave up #37 (530 points) to get it.

The above mentioed people did not voice their opinions through the media like Walker so I consider it a totally different situation altogether. They didn't call him out like Walker. Walker is a new breed of athlete they want everything and they want it now. Don't agree with it but it's a fact.

By the way Walker is one we needed over all the ones you mentioned above.

I hope it works out but again all these high expectations after the draft are a little on the overboard side of things. Before t last week our glass was half empty now it's half full??? Just trying to be realistic here!

Did you miss the comments from Walker stating he would retire before putting on a Packer uniform again? Walker made his bed, now he's sleeping in it.

We didn't need Kampman, Green or Bubba? Now I think you're jus being silly!!

Thank you for saying that, LT!!! Kampy, Green and Bubba - NONE of them were TT's boys, yet still resigned because of their importance to the Packers.

Anybody that subscribes to "TT's boys" is seriously bent.

You look at what we had as a football team when he got here from a realistic viewpoint and that thought makes no sense.

Hate to tell you boys but we were more than Arrington and TO away from a playoff team.

You see playoff teams have DEPTH.

Playoff teams have ATHLETES that make up good special teams.

That's right. GOOD special teams. Not ones that suck.

TT has brought back our entire offensive backfield, kept Kampman, signed Manuel, Pickett, and, Woodson, drafted two great linebackers that we desperately needed, and, added DEPTH, at wide receiver, o-line and yeah, to our horrendously lacking of ATHLETIC guys that can play key roles and get our special teams out of TOTAL EMBARRASMENT.

Of course, those of you that still think we should have somehow mortgaged the farm on Bush, signed Arrington and TO and we would be back in the SB, have the right to dream on.

well said. Mike Stock, our special teams coach...has said more the past week than our previous special teams coaches have said in the past 4 years. It looks like TT\MM listen to their assitants\coaches, and work TOGETHER to build a good team.

I believe it was.

Some say that is why Jeff Jagodzinski left Green Bay in the first place in 2003...was because Sherman would not listen to his subordinates.

And the more I read, the more that makes sense.

that makes sense...bonamego came in with a lot of pizzazz and wrinkles...lots of shifts and odd formations on kickoffs...some fake fgs, etc. then it all went to vanilla in a hurry. Was that due to the lack of personel he wanted?!? I honestly don't know, but it seems plausible

starting to make sense, doesn't it?

Look at Ed Donatell for crying out loud. Mr. nothing in green bay, Mr. Awesome(well..he did well) in Atlanta. Sherman had it his way or the highway. And his way sucked.
