    Calling for snow??? ... Na...

    Free T-shirts...

Fans attending the game will receive white G-Force T-shirts and white pom pons as part of the Packers' continuing effort to rev up Lambeau Field crowds.

More than 72,000 shirts -- all size XL and distributed by a Madison company, according to The Capital Times newspaper -- will be handed out.

If you don't want to wear the T-shirt or wave the pom pons, the Packers invite you to wear white anyway.

It's an homage to the Winnipeg Jets (may they rest in peace). It just has to be.

Per NFL rules, home has to wear darks. But this is why white:

A crowd wearing all white and waving white poms is more noticable than a crowd wearing all green and waving gold poms, I guess.

Are you sure? I remember the Steelers were decided the 'home' team and chose to wear white during the Super Bowl. Maybe rules change for the Super Bowl though.

I think it is specific to the Super Bowl. Not sure tho at all. I just kinda assumed that the home darks were an NFL rule, since they are such crotchity old sticklers on any type of uni rules, like how they fine players for not having the right sock length, tucking in their shirts, etc...

I found an article that said the home team decides white/dark uniform, but I'm not sure how credible it is.

The home team chooses the color. Here's a pic of the AZ cardinals game with the Pack in "home" dark colors. The Cardinals intent is to make the visiting team suffer the heat.

Yeah, I couldn't find anything that supported the home MUST wear dark colors and I found numerous articles stating the home team could decide.

It was a fun research and I learned something :)

Also the dolphins wear white jerseys at home, just because of tradition, but that part about the heat makes alot of sense as well.

back to the original topic...does it concern anyone that the packer's brass feel that conditions warrant the need to "rev up the home crowd" with stunts like this?

Don't get me wrong, I actually think 72k in white will look really cool...just asking if this suggests that packer fans aren't very loud and rowdy at games.

There was some chatter about the fans not being as loud as they have been 'known' to in the past.

Maybe that had something to do with it?

I think the whole G-force concept is awesome. Of course our fans don't need any "stunts" to get pumped up, but Lambeau hasn't been the advantage it used to be the past couple years. I think its more for the players' motivation then the fans.

Will pay top $$ for pic of Ryan waving pom poms! :joy:

Whatever works - although I've yet to see a complacent crowd at Lambeau Win, lose or draw.

Ryan has put my "humiliating" sig in his sig........that is despicable.
But then, I suppose that is to be expected of the "Grand Poobah" of cheeseheads. :D

Hey PackinSteel, did Heather give you permission to put in that Steelers avatar? :p

To posters on this topic, here is official Packer Packer press release on this Packer promotion at Packer-Bear game at Lambeau Field.

This is not the first time the Packers have given away a promotion item at Packer home game in the past few years. It is the first time a T-Shirt was given away, in addition to 2nd item given away.

    posted 10/03/2007

"T-SHIRTS AND POMPOMS TO BE DISTRIBUTED

Lambeau Field's G-Force will add a new element Sunday night as the division rival Bears will be welcomed to an energized crowd donning white G-Force T-shirts distributed at the gates.

G-Force is a new program that recognizes Packers fans for their longtime support and loyalty, and emphasizes the electric gameday atmosphere the fans provide for the players.

More than 72,000 shirts, each with the G-Force logo on the front and the phrase "fan flurry" on the back, will be distributed to each person coming through the gates. White pompoms will be distributed as well. The combined effect of the two items should ensure the crowd will be in a white frenzy.

Fans also are encouraged to wear their own white apparel as well to enhance the effect.

"Our fans are simply the best, so the G-Force 'Fan Flurry' T-shirts and pompoms should be an opportunity for everyone to have some fun with it and really energize Lambeau Field," said Craig Benzel, Packers director of marketing. "There is no doubt the Lambeau Field crowd makes a difference during games, and you can count on them to continue that effort against the Chicago Bears on Sunday night."
