This is sad a story of a once great player.

ALS is a disease of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement. Gleason was diagnosed with it, after retirement he was diagnosed last year. Since then, the Saints awarded him with a Super Bowl ring (even though he did not play for the 2009 squad) and he was rewarded the key to the city by the mayor of N.O..

Gleason holds fame for the Saints, for this punt block in their first home game since Katrina...He was more of a special teams player, rather than defensive starter.

At least this raises awareness for ALS as a really bad thing, but I am saddened to see what's happened to the guy.
