Message: <blockquote data-quote="Mondio" data-source="post: 849553" data-attributes="member: 10441">Do you think all coaches across all teams are trying to hold TE's back compared to other positions?  Because in the past decade or 2, the norm for successful TE's as a rookie is in the sub 500 yard range and a couple TD's maybe.  Where as we regularly see rookie OL produce, Rookie RB's especially, some rookie WR's, even QB's sometimes, but rookie TE's?  even if they get near 1,000 yards in years 2,3,4 and beyond, they rarely see more than a couple to a few hundred as a rookie.  Why would coaches hold them back vs all other positions IF they really were ready to be successful?  They have to learn offensive line blocking schemes and they have to learn a pass catching route tree and all the reads with both.  I think it's a unique position, or they aren't really a TE.  Just a big WR.There's a reason they rarely do well as rookies, even the great ones.</blockquote>
