Aaron Rodgers on The Pat McAfee show today said this is his last year, and why he only did a one yr deal...
Saw that. He hedged it just a little bit. Rodgers being Rodgers. I think whether he wants it to be or not, this will be his last year.

"It's a sick society," Rodgers said. "I've lived in the public eye for 20 years. I've had a public relationship. How did that work out? I had people leaking my home information and making up stories."

Rodgers challenged the media to keep his name out of headlines. That would be an easier request if he honors his word and doesn't give anyone material in retirement.

"Try and leave me out of a conversation, sports world, for a month," Rodgers implored. "Try to just leave me out. My personal life, my professional life. Try not to talk about me. Try to still be relevant."

I have no comment. It speaks for itself. I know you arev all thinking the same thing I am.

As much as Aaron seems to bring
some minor drama to himself. The guy has been a legend on the Football field. We were really fortunate fans to witness many amazing throws. I suppose others have that too. Brady, Manning, now Mahomes.
He’ll be missed.

Wow, you may be here due to the punitive/irrational actions by a Catholic Seminary. At least your Dad had the good sense to get out. That's why our parents yanked us from Catholic school after 4th grade. They wanted us to get an education and not mauled by sadistic/unhappy/incompetent nuns. (Jesus those nuns were brutal. And in those days they wore those robes and a tight-fitting habit, not a head hair in sight. I'd be looking to hit someone too in that situation.)

Well believers and atheists alike, we all have football, specifically GB football, in common. There are Packer fans across the globe. I've met a few in my career travels. They were always fascinated to meet someone who was actually from WI. A typical question was - "How close do you live to Lambeau Field?" - as if the entire state existed with Lambeau Field as its heart - and within walking distance. Well, that's probably true.
One school I went to had Nuns that were great. Of course they taught my Father exactly 30 years earlier (true story) and he was sort of the teachers pet. So maybe they took it easy on me? They’d call me Carl sometimes which was my Dad’s name. My favorite thing was ringing that bell. I just wanted to ring that bell as an Altar Boy just before communion. I’d even smile when I did it! Ok.. I digress.

It doesn’t matter if you’re on the border or the heart of WI or in GB itself. I’m always proud of my native state. Literally Native! Heck I was born in LaCrosse where the Indians and fur traders played that game at Riverside Park. Where 3 Rivers Meet there will never be a Tornado was the old saying. Had some truth we didn’t get much Tornado activity in the River Valley.

I'm right there with you until:

"He'll be missed."

He did give us 15 years of incredible QB play. He's damaged his image so badly since, that I wouldn't miss if him if he just went away and stopped talking. Reread the remarks posted by 13. Rodgers still blames everyone else for talking about him when he chooses to go on the McCafee show each week. The guy simply cannot accept responsibility, for anything, and he can't shut the **** up. **** that.

Totally agree. I saw 31 straight years of the most exciting quarterback play I can possibly imagine... 16 years of Favre, and 15 of Rodgers.

The last half of Favre's career here, I became more and more acutely aware that when he finally exited stage left, I would never enjoy football quite so much. I knew that there would never be a player who so purely loved and enjoyed the game as much as he did, and was so explosive and absolutely determined to do whatever it took to make a play work. Anything at all could happen at any moment, and I was on the edge of my seat everytime he dropped back to pass.

He was absolutely the most thrilling quarterback I'd ever seen, and I knew I would never see another like him. And I was right... I haven't been as excited or as thrilled by any football game since he left.

But then came Rodgers. Totally different player, totally different vibe. An absolute surgeon. The laserlike focus, the precision, the lethal accuracy... he was a Terminator. The pure skill level was amazing. What he lacked in enthusiasm and spontaneity, he more than made up for in pure skill. I truly believe he was the best pure passer that I have ever seen, and I've watched Bart Starr, Dan Marino, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Pat Mahomes... I won't say Rodgers is the best quarterback I've seen, but he is easily the best passer.

I rag on the guy, he gets on my nerves, I roll my eyes every time he does something ridiculous.... but I have no hard feelings. None of that crap change how much I loved to see him play, and how fortunate to have seen almost every single game he ever played. I wish him well. To me, he's like the buddy you had in high school and college, that you had a lot of fun with but he never grew up - and you've grown way, way beyond him, so you can never really be close again.

But you still remember your buddy and how much you shared together.

That's a good summary of Favre and Rodgers, thanks 13.

Favre really was fun to watch, maddening at times with his INTs. He made a Packers game as exciting as a Friday night HS rivals matchup.

He truly embodied the "live by Favre, die by Favre" ethos. And that consecutive-start streak will never be broken with or without the new and stricter concussion protocols. I still remember Favre's injured right thumb, his hand swollen to the size of a cantaloupe. I still don't get how he could grip the ball through all of that, not to mention endure the pain, but he did.

Favre and Rodgers became unbearable in their final years - Favre for his retiring, not retiring, retiring shtick, Rodgers for his narcissism and total lack of self awareness and personal accountability. Favre was still a good QB when he retired. Rodgers? I'm not sure. I don't think he has his heart in the game anymore. I don't wish anything bad for him. The Steelers will be interesting to watch.

Yeah, I simply don't care about his private life or whatever he might or might not say or do. The only problem I have with him is that we never got that second Super Bowl after starting out so promisingly. And even that may not be all his fault. Maybe his not attending OTAs and things like that hurt the team - but it's impossible to say without knowing what the alternate future would have looked like. I liked Rodgers, but it became very apparent that we were never going to get that next Lombardi out of him. And the football product is all I care about.

Wow! The Steelers just made two big deals. A go to TE and a very good DB.
I guess they also gave up Minkah Fitzpatrick. So maybe a push on D but got a very good TE receiver.

After watching the Jets vs Patriots last night, I couldn’t help but catch myself rooting for #12. It was great to see him Win, but moreover It’s a testimony to how hard he worked himself back from that Achilles.

My favorite moments were..
-Allen Lazard catching Aaron’s 1st TD pass in NY.
-The look on Robert Saleh’s face said it all. He waited a long time for that type dominant game. He had apparently told #12 to get him a 2-score lead for his Defense. Those type things were few and far between with Zach.
-The dime TD throw to Garret Wilson at the Pylon
-Oddly, the 45 yard miss by Zuerlein because It reminded me that even good, veteran Kickers do miss those.

Did anyone else watch..or have thoughts on the Jets or Aaron’s first complete game in NY??
Should definitely be Rodgers last season. Too bad he never even got to return to a SB.

He had his chances.
That's a fair statement. It's true that TT and Gluten could have built a better team around him. At the same time, Rodgers choked during some of the biggest moments in the biggest games. He is not infallible and never was. He'll also never admit it, and that may also be among the reasons he never returned to the SB. He just wasn't/isn't a leader. Great, great QB, no doubt - and he gave Packer fans a LOT of very good years.

So the Jonah rumors were true. He’s a solid TE product from RD3 in Tennessee in the mold of Jared Cook. Rodgers now has a nice little array of receiving options. Also both Engram and Jonnu are good blockers (once again similar to how Cook was) I’ve seen them all 3 on a top 50 best blocking list a couple years ago along with our own Finley, Graham etc. so they both offer solid balance.
Engram being more accomplished between the 2 TE’s he’ll have, but Smith coming off his best season, so he’s poised to have a good year.

Unfortunately, imho, in a couple big games, we had injuries on the O line and the coaches did an horrendous job of choosing who to play where on the line. And the Seattle affair was also on the coaches both offense and especially imho on defense. 3 man rushes.

This is why I think it could be wise to work something out with Jenkins if he’d do a short extension? I don’t pretend to know what he’s asking for. Ideally, I’d like to groom Belton if possible and give Monk or Jennings ample time to work into the lineup.

In Rodgers scenario having protection is paramount. Both TE additions Engram and Jonnu will provide security. The Steelers new star RB, Kaleb Johnson is NOT who you want protecting Rodgers. He’s a stud in the run game though 2nd Team All American. This Jonnu signing was as much to bolster Blocking as it was to provide another weapon in the passing game.

The Sehag loss is squarely on MM, imo. Yes, a lot of guys made horrific plays, but it was McCarthy who went into "play not to lose" mode. He took all the steam out of the team in the last six minutes, abandoning the play that dominated the first 54 minutes. And as much as I hate to say this, the Hags never quit.

And I wasn't suggesting that Rodgers was the only reason they never got back to the SB. Overall, his clutch play was just lacking.

The way I look at it - they won a SB as the sixth seed, with all victories leading to the SB on the road. And then they were an underdog against the Steelers.

And the loss to the Niners, where the Niners scored six points on offense, was that an NFCCG? It was played in GB. I think that might have been the game when the Packers had first and goal at the 4 YL. There straight INCs followed by a FG. that was painful too.

I always thought the whole team was responsible for that loss, everybody contributed to it, and yes McCarthy as much as anybody. Except for Crosby.
